Braylon Edwards Arrested Drunk Driving

New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards was arrested Tuesday morning for drunk driving in Manhattan.

According to the New York Post, Edwards was pulled over in a Range Rover at 34th Street and 12th Avenue. He was arrested at 5:15 a.m. and charged with a DWI.

Edwards reportedly blew a .16 on a Breathalyzer test, which is double the state's legal limit of .08.

Whoever is in control of Edwards' twitter account didn't hear the news of his arrest, however. A tweet from his account around 8 a.m. said, "GoodMorning World...Winning is the goal, perfection is the aspiration, & dedication is the key to unlock the door #LetsWork." Awww...and he's such a modest, humble receiver too....Gosh...arent the Jets making it easier daily to hate them. And I used to like the Jets.

This guy probably thought they would let him go because
he is "NY jet" . .. hahaha
Not everybody cares about football. I never liked it.

It must be nice for Goodell to pick and chose when to punish a player for “conduct detrimental to the NFL”.

The Browns may be 0-2, but at least we don't have Braylon Edwards on the team anymore.

You got that right man.

Look at that beard - all he needs is the turban...

Send a message - suspend him without pay for the season...

This guy blew a .16 - he's lucky he could stand up - that's 12-13 drinks my friends...

He should know better after co-piloting with Stallworth. Guess he's just got too much money to take a cab or hire a driver.

Two points:

One: Following celebrities on Twitter is idiotic. You might as well program your Tivo to record commercials and skip TV shows.

Two: The Jets are going to let him play this weekend, just not start. I'm guessing they don't want to play their 2-0 division rival Miami without him. It's hard to believe that the level of his skill and the significance of the game aren't playing a factor in his punishment.

Self-correction.

By ESPN's Tim Graham:
"Turns out the NFL's collective bargaining agreement doesn't let teams deactivate players for certain offenses, and drunk driving is among them, league spokesman Greg Aiello tweeted."

Apparently, the Jets are being as strict as they can. I've got to get a union job!

Nearly every single day, some rich, stupid pro athlete gets drunk, shoots off a gun or beats up a woman.....Now when is this amoral, gutless commish going to wake up and start treating these vacuous millionaires like every other thug out there? FIRE them! Or at least, take away some money...make'm do jail time. I'm sick of the double standard for these jerks. And I'm sick of the toothless tiger that allegedly 'runs' the NFL>>

Had to throw the word "thug" in there, huh? Would have been interesting to see if you would have used that word if the article had been about Drew Brees.
03:09 AM on 09/22/2010
But, it wasn't about Drew Brees, and that's the whole point. Guys like Edwards think that they're above it all and not answerable to any authority because they've been given a free pass all their lives. He should be dealt with severely - what if he had killed someone while driving drunk?? Unfortunately, he won't be because the NFL is about making money and only has a "social" conscience when its convenient.

And you can mark this down - Edwards will be in trouble again at some time in the future. I'd bet my last dollar on it.

Great off season signing, Jets. You guys are setting the bar real high so far this year.
