'Breakfast Club' Cast Reunites, Remembers John Hughes (PHOTO)

The cast of 'The Breakfast Club' - minus Emilio Estevez - reunited in New York Monday night at a special screening of the film to celebrate its 25th anniversary and to remember the late John Hughes.

According to People, Sheedy told reporters she hadn't watched the film in 'many years.'

Now I'm seeing it with my daughter, who's here," she said. "She's 16, and I'm going to watch it with her. It's very cool."

Molly Ringwald, according to Us, talked about the film's longevity.

'There's been nothing to replace it,' she told Us. 'Until something comes along that can hold a candle to these movies, they will continue to be what they are.' Where would her character, Claire, be today? 'Maybe she's been married a few times,' said Ringwald. 'Hopefully she's happy.'

I don't know why but nobody looked better on film when she expressed sadness or cried than Alley Sheedy.

Every time I see AMH I can't believe how the scrawny little kid of Weird Science turned into a beefy macho man.

I taught a class today full of seniors who will graduate college in 2011. We happened to be talking about generations and what distinctive events, cultural influences and pop culture markers are important to understanding them. As we were discussing Gen X, I noted that today we were celebrating the 25th anniversary of this movie. Wow, did the light bulbs go on in their heads, and the realization sparked some pretty insightful conversation.
The irony: the movie was older than all save me in the classroom.
This one lives yet: on cable television, via netflix and dvd, in the homes of people raising Gen Y and the i generation, and in some of my classes. A suitable afterlife.

Definately one of my favorites of the era. And of course there's 16 Candles, St. Elmo's Fire, and many others. And who would have thought that MAH would turn out so hot. When I saw him for the first time when his show the Dead Zone came out (I hadn't really seen him much after BC), I was stuned. I thought "that can be Brian Johnson from BC". Boy I guess all those guys who are nerds/geeks now have something to look forward too.

I miss those John Hughes/Brat Pack movies. Think it's too soon to rent them all and watch them with my 11 year old daughter?

One of the most embarrassing movies I've ever had to sit through. The icing on the cake came w/ the air fist to close the movie. I still cringe.

Ahhh yes....when I see that freez frame I can just here Simple Minds: "Don't You Forget about Me" ( the La-la-la part and not the hey-hey-hey part). And I can almost feel the awkward teenage angst.

Awkward teenage angst is what that movie is all about, though...

I was a teen when this came out and loathed it for all it's self important, schlocky melodrama and found each and every character, save for maybe Anthony Michael hall, to be totally unlikable.

Stumbled on it recently and realized very quickly that I was a pretty smart kid :)

16 Candles is far superior.

I agree. It sucked. Judd Nelson's nostril flaring pretend tough guy was the hardest thing to stomach.

I always thought that the Ally Sheedy character was completely unbelievable. I still can't figure out what that character represented. I mean, we all knew the jock, the social, the nerd, etc...but what in the heck was she?
Also, I agree as well about the self-importance of the film...I mean..it was ok, but not THAT good.

At the risk of sounding old, at what point did Hollywood decide that teenagers no longer want movies with heart? At what point did they decide that the world is too cynical of a place to even try for depth and emotion in a film aimed at teens?

If someone could recapture the tone of John Hughes' films, they'd make a mint. While the world has changed, the essence of being a teenager has not.

Juno, Napoleon Dynamite, Rushmore--all great movies about teens with heart--made long after Hughes' heyday.

I didn't care for Napoleon Dynamite, but Juno and Rushmore are both very good films...but very different in tone and subject matter from what John Hughes did. And Rushmore is definitely not a teen film.

Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
