Jon Stewart Talks Glenn Beck & 'Jew Fros' On 'Oprah' (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post

Jon Stewart was a guest on "Oprah" today to talk about the "Rally To Restore Sanity," his new book, whether or not he'd run for public office, and his brief stint as an NYU "professor." He even got the chance to play a word association game. Overall it was an action-packed episode but no one got tickets to another continent.

Stewart first walked on stage with a suitcase, assuming that Oprah will be jetting him to Australia after the show. He then got right into talking about his upcoming rally, saying it's going to be a day for individuals who say, "Yeah, I'm not crazy about paying taxes, but I do like having sewers."

Aside from the rally, he also got Oprah to plug his other latest venture, "Earth: The Book," and took Oprah's comment that it would make a good Christmas present to mean she'd make it her book club pick.

"I believe Oprah Winfrey just said out loud 'this is one of my 'favorite thiiiiiiings!'" Stewart mocked. "Eat that Franzen!" But Stewart really is serious about promoting his new book - He also brought a clip showing his surprise lecture at an NYU media class, in which he gave every person a copy.

Later, Oprah moved on to the big stuff, asking Stewart if he'd ever run for public office, which he adamantly denied. "I make jokes," Stewart said. "I don't solve problems."

And make jokes he did. He and Oprah ended their interview with a word association game, where Oprah showed him photos of Tiger Woods, Lindsay Lohan, Glenn Beck, and more, and asked him to say the first thing that came to mind.

The best, by far, was the photo of Glenn Beck, to which Stewart said, "He's my money maker!"

"You know what I call him?" Stewart added. "My kids' college fund"

in an interview of Glenn Beck with 20/20, Beck admitted that he converted to Mormonism without spiritual conviction and mocked religion believes as a joke; but in a rally with Sarah Palin, Beck positions himself as a Christian leader?

Yeah Jon, nothing like mocking Americans for protesting taxes during a recession!
08:50 AM on 09/25/2010
". . .during a recession. " Nice use of a FoxNews talking point.

Cons would cut taxes and lay off thousands of teachers, fire fighters, and cops right when we are coming out of a recession. Yeah, that is sound economic thinking!

Please remember that conservative thinking and sound economic policies are mutually exclusive!! See: "trickle down" or "supply side" economics, aka classical economics revisited, aka some of the best thinking of the 18th century.

It's a Fox News talking point to talk about the recession? You better hope we don't go into another one after the Holiday season.

Taxes are at historically low levels and Obama wants to keep them low for the bottom 98% so quit whining about your taxes.
12:54 PM on 09/25/2010
Tell that to people in New Jersey or California or other states swamped by taxes.

And you'll never lose it because by the election after that you will have driven the US into the ground and this time no one will be able to push the car out of the ditch. That's what happens when people who don't know how to drive get the keys to the car.

Love that this is on the web site: "Believes that “as your U.S. senator,†she’s not in the business of creating jobs". This should be how government is. We don't want government creating jobs, we have tried that. Now we have a larger deficit and still the highest unemployment. What we need is a large private sector with low taxes so there is good competition with the domestic and global marketplace.

You never ran a business, did you? Otherwise you would know that it isn't taxes that regulate job creation, it's customers. And when the potential customers don't have money, they don't buy, and only a fool would invest in growing a business at that time. Once we get money into people's hands, they can start buying and businesses can start growing and hiring people. Reducing taxes doesn't do any good if you don't make enough to pay significant taxes in the first place because you are unemployed.

-Julius Bazan, a neurologist from New York, testified that in 2009 he was pressured by a Goldline salesman into buying gold coins instead of gold bullion.-

Harry Barfo was pressured by his party to vote for Obama instead of the other guy because he was told there was free "Obama money" and free "healthcare"

Harry Barfo is a big boy and can make his own decisions, just as Bazan is a big boy too!

I'm sick and tired of stupid people blaming others for their own incompetence. Had Bazan done a tiny bit of research.......................

Perfect Conservative Logic...Blame the Victim.
Bazan was conned; Glenn Beck was hired to give some legitimacy to the Gold scam; Beck encourages others to buy it, even says he believes and trusts the people at Goldline.
He lies, he cheats, he steals, he misrepresents God's Word and you crazies still believe him. He is a False Prophet, and you followers are in for a rude awakening.

Jon Stewart is not a news man and doesn't claim to be. Did you see him on O'Reilly lastnight? He doesn't take himself seriously as anything but a comedian - even his book he says is for humor.

Perfect! With a single example, Jon Stewart highlights the many necessities we take for granted that our tax money goes for. Another: all those trains and buses that get us to work on time.

Glenn Beck Implicated In Gold Racket

Weiner, who has conducted an investigation into Goldline and gold-sellers, formally unveiled legislation he has drafted that would regulate gold-selling companies including Goldline to disclose to consumers the reasonable resale value of precious metals -- particularly gold coins -- they are selling. He argues that Goldline’s average markup was 90% above the melt value of their coins, with the largest markup on any coin being 208% above the melt value.

Weiner also took aim at Goldline’s endorsers, which include prominent conservatives Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee and Fred Thompson.

“The TV gold industry is lead by one company, Goldline, which focuses its energy on fear, lies -and rip-offs,†Weiner said. “Goldline gets people scared about the economy and their future, then they transition to a lie saying buying certain gold coins acts as a hedge against economic downturns and then the consumer is profoundly ripped off almost irrespective of how high the gold market is.â€

Julius Bazan, a neurologist from New York, testified that in 2009 he was pressured by a Goldline salesman into buying gold coins instead of gold bullion. Bazan added that he bought $140,000 in gold coins from Goldline and when he decided to sell it six months later the investment was only worth $85,000 even though the price of gold had not changed significantly.

“Glenn Beck for example has dedicated entire segments of his program to explaining why the U.S. money supply is destined for hyperinflation with Barack Obama as president,†Weiner said. “He will often promote the purchase of gold as the only safe investment alternative for consumers who want to safeguard their livelihoods. When the show cuts to commercial break, viewers are treated to an advertisement from Goldline.â€

In addition to Beck, Goldline has hired former Republican presidential hopefuls Huckabee and Thompson to help sell its precious metals.

“There is an ethical situation that emerges where if you are reporting the news as Beck does and making economic doomsday scenarios, but also trying to sell people gold as a hedge against the economic doomsday,†said Weiner spokesman Ben Fishel.

-Weiner also took aim at Goldline’s endorsers-

Maybe Weiner should take aim at some of the politicians endorsers?

I don't think it would matter. The stupid "take back our country" crowd will never believe Jesus...played by Glenn Beck , and the Virgin Mary....played by Sarah Palin would ever lie to them or lead them down the wrong path. One thing about Republicans and Tea Pariters: They know where to find the ignorant people who will accept whatever they tell them as the Gospel. This has been a clever tool of the Republicans for years. What does it say about the state of genuine Christianity when these two lying hooligans are worshipped by the Fundamenalist Christians. Isn't it interesting that the Christians are now in the same camp as the racists, the bigots, the Wall Street thieves, the Big Banking thieves, the hateful and the intolerant, the liars, the misinformers, the ignorant(clearly represented and identified by the signs...most spell incorrectly). I sit back and just shake my head in disbelief. These people claim to be Chrisitan...Am I missing something??? Isn't it non-Christian to follow such beliefs. By the way, is IGNORANCE a sin? They better hope it isn't...A Tea Party in Hell...sounds very fitting. What in the world has happened to the Christian faith that this evil is representative of Christians in America. They just don't get it.
