Girl Effect Premieres New Video 'The Clock Is Ticking' About Global Poverty

GirlEffect.org, an organization created by the Nike Foundation, raises awareness and funds to help girls escape poverty around the world.

The organization's popular video, "The Girl Effect" centered on the principle that, when empowered, girls can lift themselves and others out of poverty to build stronger, healthier communities.

Now, the organization has launched a second video, "The Clock Is Ticking," which premiered Tuesday at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City. The video explains that by the age of 12, girls in developing countries are at risk to become trapped in a cycle of poverty, due to a lack of economic opportunities, disease, child bearing and other factors.

Viewers who are inspired by the video can make a donation to Girl Effect to help girls around the world. Supporters can also watch the original 'Girl Effect' video and find more ways to take action.
