This one already has an impression and it is looking good but certainly not an iPad-competitor. http://bit.ly/bPaytD

Why release it at all? I doubt anyone even wants it.

The hardware will be irrelevant in 2 years.
There will be 50 makers of tablets.
JUST like computers.
The only difference will be Operating Systems.
And I predict that ONCE AGAIN the Apple OS will be more restricted BUT far less prone to viruses and other malware - thus lending a more satisfying end-user experience.
Some people in the market just want the thing to work without having to be a computer engineer.

I'm so happy this will finally come out. Now all the nerdy PC guys with goatee's and prominent bellies can finally stop saying "It's such a useless device, I'd rather have a laptop" when someone mentions loving an iPad.

A lot of it was just iHate. Now that they will have a nice little non-apple tablet, they can stop b!tching so much. Let the tablet wars begin! Competition is a good thing...

This is stupid too. There's as many people wanting this as there are people wanting a punch in the face.

No, not really. I still don't see a productive use for any of these new tablets as of yet, be they Apple, Android, or Blackberry. The vast majority of "Apps" I've seen in any of the stores are basically gimmicks, fun little toys to fool around with for a few hours, maybe. Other than that, they make nice little e-readers, video players web browsers, and such. If you don't expect too much out of them, they have potential.

I am an apple user, but haven't gotten an iPad.  I currently use neither iPhone nor BB. I will be interested to see what the different features are. I hope that RIM designers for this thing are good.  I know that RIM makes good products. So, what's wrong with this news? :)

my boyfriend has a blackberry; mine is android powered. he can't wait to get rid of the blackberry.. its apps suck.. there is no customization. they try to charge for GPS even though google has its free maps program. hopefully their OS and setup will be a lot better on this, or it'll be another flop.

No wonder they can't get a decent touch screen phone released.  Half their engineering hours are being put into this worthless junk.

Unless this thing runs on Android, count me out. I just sold my Blackberry 8530 because of the OS and its proprietary hold on only allowing access to Blackberry App World, Gmail, Twitter, Yahoo, etc from GPRS and not Wi-Fi.

No thanks to the old way of thinking.

A 7" display makes it an overgrown phone, not a tablet.  Another miss for RIM?

7" tablets are the future.  The ipad is too heavy and bulky to carry around all the time and truely be portable.  That's why the kindle is getting smaller and smaller.  Either way, it will be another miss for RIM.

Really? I carry mine all over the place, through airports and on all my travels. I think it rocks!
