Michelle Obama Does Double The Prints In NYC (PHOTOS, POLL)

First Posted: 09/23/10 06:47 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 06:50 PM ET

Stop the presses! It's been a print-filled day for Michelle Obama. The First Lady started out at the at the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday morning where she listened to President Obama speak while wearing a blue-and-purple dotted frock by Peter Som. In the afternoon, she stopped by the Clinton Global Initiative Meetings, where she had changed into a floral and color splotched dress by Moschino. Check out both dresses and tell us what you think.

Quick Poll

Which dress is your favorite?

Blue and purple in the morning.

Floral and color splotches in the afternoon.

I love both!

I don't like either, really.

okay I can see a mad deleter has been back here again.

Why is it not okay to say her bum looks big in the second dress? It's a fact. And the fact is she's a classic pear shape. Some things work with big bums, some things don't. And yes, big bums are great, but there's a way to emphasize them in a good way. That second dress didn't do it. And now I wonder how long this post will stay here.

I only keep reposting it to make a point about censorship. Get over yourself who ever you are. You're not all that!

Okay! Sophia, what's the obsession with our FLOTUS' rear end about? I've posted this down thread but will repeat. I looked at the dress in the photos, watched the video of the speech, and looked at similar photos on Mrs-O.org. The lighting and angles for these HP photos are both terrible. The dress worn at the CGI has a very bold print that gets washed out by poor lighting. If you watch the video of the First Lady entering the stage, you see her lean forward to greet Bill Clinton. It's at that moment that the HP photo was shot. When she returns to an upright posture, the rear end "problem" that you obsess about vanishes. I wish HP would hire better photographers who know how to manage subdued lighting in the venue, Also, the photo angles selected are not the best. Come on HP, do a better job! No woman deserves to have comments made about her body in the Style section. This is supposed to be about the clothes.

Love Mrs. Obama....and the President.

But...I do not like florals on anyone...I know these are from top designers but can't think of an occasion other than maybe a backyard cocktail hour in an upscale neighborhood where any one of these dresses would be appropriate.

I don't think IKram is a good stylist...with MO would consult someone else...maybe NYC based

How do you know who Michelle is consulting for style advice? My eyes tell me she's going with her head and heart, and I'm fascinated by her taste in dresses. I might not choose to wear some of them, but she carries them off with poise and grace.

She looks lovely, but those dresses are not winners, IMO. But who cares, her beautiful face is always the star of the show! She has this kind of preppy style, it shows in her choice of patterns and color combinations.....

I think a lot of people care how their First Lady looks when she appears and speaks at events, especially events of such high profile. These events were not luncheons with friends...they were serious events.

I think Bill Clinton, Potus and Michelle all three looks great, and did anyone notice that they are together and actually get along ? That`s what progessives are supposed to be...
As for Michelle, it does not matter what she wears, she carries herself so well, that`s where the focus should be.

Conservatives/Republicans are inaccurate to define themselves as being the party of "family values." It is also inaccurate for "progressives" to define themselves as the party where husbands and wives are "together and actually get along." It's also unnecessary because the Obamas are so much more.

But, really, as long as they are polite and respectful to eachother in public, I don't think it's any of our business whether or not they get along or like being together.

She is a beautiful woman with presence.

Personally, I don't think floral prints work well on tall women and I don't think they photograph particularly well. The dresses are gorgeous, the woman is gorgeous, but I'm not a big fan of the combo.

I'm tall as well and I think us tall women are better served by solids and if we have to go to prints, wear big bold ones, not little floral ones. That's just me. I can see others hear disagree.

I'm tall, and I agree with your opinion on what works well for tall women. I also don't think ruffles look good on a tall woman--it just looks silly, IMO.

It depends on the context of the situation and who is wearing them.

For more serious or formal events, prints can make a woman look frivolous or unclear on the seriousness of the event. It would be like if a man wore a Hawaiian shirt to the U.N. or to give a major policy speech.
