Marco Rubio Airs Spanish-Language Ad, Despite Promoting English-Only Policies

Florida's GOP Senate nominee Marco Rubio, "looking to solidify his robust support among Hispanic voters," is out with his first Spanish-language ad, despite the fact that he has repeatedly advocated English-only policies.

In the new ad, called "Padres," Rubio "talks about his parents' sacrifices and the importance of protecting the American dream by changing the direction Washington is taking our country." Politico reports that the ad will run in Florida markets that have heavy Hispanic populations. The script of the ad:

My parents came to this great country and worked very hard. They made many sacrifices so I could live the American dream. For that I will be eternally grateful. Unfortunately that dream is threatened by the actions of some politicians in Washington.

I'm Marco Rubio and I approve this message because I will work so that our children and grandchildren have the opportunity to live out their dreams.

WATCH:

Rubio has said that he believes English should be the official language of the United States. "We have to have a common language that unites the people,'' he said in 2009. "I'm not in favor of banning other languages, but my name is spelled the same way in Spanish as it is in English." He reiterated that position in a recent debate on the Spanish-language network Univision.

Rubio isn't the only politician pushing English-only policies while trying to reach out to the Spanish-speaking population, and often, the messages are different depending on the language of the media market. In California, GOP gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman put up Spanish-language billboards saying she would have voted against Prop. 187 -- which would have rendered undocumented immigrants ineligible for all state social services -- and opposed Arizona's controversial immigration law SB-1070. In an interview with the conservative English-language America's Morning News, however, Whitman said that while she doesn't think SB-1070 is right for California, she believes it should stand in Arizona.

The vote he is after in this ad is the "abuelito/a" vote. There are several incompetent Marco Rubio clones running in S. Fl. on the GOOP ticket for various positions. Some of these people make Christine O'Donnell and $arah Palin look like rocket scientists. Their entire pitch sums up the schitzophrenic mentality of latino republicans. On the one hand, they have a message for the anglophone community that  Read More...

If my translation software works what Marco Rubio is saying in Spanish is:

“Si tu eres el hijo de un inmigrante vas a estar jodido si yo gano la elección voy a deportar a tus padres y a quitarte tu ciudadanía”

So what, we should be surprised. Right-wingers are patriarchal, and make their own truths as they go along.

I wish to offer a plea to any and all who have been contributing to these HP blogs on all of the issues that have clearly established the fact that the Republicans in both house will do anything to block everything coming from the White House or the Democratic members of the Congress: please, do not simply write your many intelligent and insightful (humorous as well) comments in the ether. Please, again, get the word out to all Democrats, Independents and, yes Republican and Tea Party friends and acquaintances, and expose the utter ugliness, wickedness and outright inhumane agenda the Right has and will continue to have and enforce if voted in as a majority. It is no longer about Obama and race. It is no longer about Obama and Christianity. It is no longer about Obama and the socialization of this country. It is, however, about the very well-being of each and every one of us--including those we vehemently disagree with. I consider myself to be my brother's keeper...all brothers and all sisters. Expose the fear tactics. Bring the light of truth to the blatant lies that are proffered by the selfish and self-centered. Correct the slight-of-hand illusions presented by the self-appointed pundits and wanna-be politicians and get out the real vote: the humane vote that will realistically, pragmatically and wisely bring respect, sincere kindness and responsible regard to all.

Why should Rubio wait until he is in the Senate to start telling lies?

Just because you say "English should be the main language" does not mean you are promoting "English Only Policies", on top of that he even says "other languages are more than welcome". Just looking for an excuse to flame someone who disagrees with you, pathetic Amanda Terkel.
