Tom Cruise To Film 'Mission Impossible 4' In Dubai

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Dubai has a new mission: To play starring role in the upcoming "Mission Impossible 4."

The Gulf city that hosts the world's tallest building said Tuesday filming will begin on the next installment of the Tom Cruise spy franchise in the coming weeks.

Dubai's media office says the sheikdom expects to play host to more than 400 members of the Mission Impossible 4 crew and cast for at least three weeks.

Dubai in recent years has bankrolled studio facilities and an annual film festival in an effort to establish itself as a regional moviemaking hub.

Among the few western films in which it has featured prominently is political thriller "Syriana." Last year's spy-themed "Duplicity" briefly featured exterior shots of Dubai.

This movie's being filmed in Dubai. Sex and the City 2 took place, incongruously, in Abu Dhabi.
Do you get the impression that film producers are willing to sink their films at the box office for up-front $$$ from Arab shieks? Turn their product into into feature-length travel destination  'infomercials'. Hollywood selling out is not exactly a new idea. Most of those high-gloss action 'heist' films in theaters are little more than two hour German car ads.

SATC was filmed in Morocco as no Arab nation would allow them access with their content and Wesern costumes.

Let's see how well the movies do when you put them up against a juggernaut, for instance a movie based off a comic book or Hasbro toys. The only reason they made number one is because they were the lesser of the two or more evils called crappy movie selections.

Who cares what his religion is? If it's a good movie, I want to see it. If it isn't, I won't. I couldn't care less about his religion or his personal life. Decide on the basis of the work, not on an actor's faith, even if it is a crazy religion.
