MoveOn Out To Rescue 'Progressive Hero' Russ Feingold Alongside Other Groups

Russfeingold Reelection

Progressive groups are making a strong push to try and save Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold from defeat in his reelection fight against Republican challenger Ron Johnson in Wisconsin.

MoveOn.org, Democracy for America and FireDogLake are all taking part in the electoral rescue mission for the only senator to vote against the Patriot Act. The Hotline reports:

Feingold needs the money. He has $3M in his campaign account, but Johnson has been raising money at a fast clip and has shown he is willing to dip into his own personal fortune.

Fundraising is ongoing, so the donations are still coming in. MoveOn.org has raised $485K in 24 hours, while FireDogLake has raised at least $30K and Democracy For America has brought in about $120K.

Heading into the midterm election season, Feingold seemed to have a relatively easy shot at another term. With election day just weeks away, however, polls show him consistently trailing his Republican challenger.

One of the latest polls, a Time/CNN survey released last week, has Feingold running six points behind Johnson, 45 to 51 percent.

MoveOn issued a warning that efforts must be made to save Feingold, a "Progressive Hero."

Red alert: The latest polls show that Senator Russ Feingold could lose in November. They all him have him down by at least 6 points against a tea party Republican who actually thinks climate change is caused by sunspots. There's a critical fundraising deadline coming up. Can you chip in before the deadline?

According to the group, "There's no better, more principled Democrat" than the Wisconsin Senator.

Russ Feingold is one of the best lawmakers on Capitol Hill... ZERO corruption.  If he loses, Wisconsin will DESERVE the fallout.

LINDA McMAHON is going to lose.....

MEG WHITMAN
is going to  Read More... .....

CARLYE FIORINA is going to lose.....

CHRISTINE O'DONNELL
is going to lose .....

SHARRON ANGLE is going to lose.....

RAND PAUL is going to lose.....

PAT TOOMEY is going to lose.....

JOE WILSON is going to lose.....

MICHELLE BACHMANN is going to lose.....

MIKE PENCE is going to lose.....

CARL PALADINO is going to lose.....

MOST people.. (even the mono-toothed wingnuts), are finally starting to realize just how BATSHIITCRAZY these people are...

But that is NOT ENOUGH.

This is as SERIOUS as it gets folks.. just look at the rhetoric coming from the right.. and those they are nominating.... INSANITY INCARNATE !!

DEMS... PROGRESSIVES... LIBERALS ...ANYONE WITH EVEN AN OUNCE OF INTELLIGENCE OR MORALITY … if you all don't get off your ARSES this November and VOTE , then you are JUST as complicit in legitimizing these retrograde SCÜMBAGS as if you were one of them YOURSELVES.

There are certain circumstances when we progressives need to just vote the democratic ticket wholesale... and this PARTICULAR midterm is historically one of those times.. as the stakes are higher now than they have EVER been.

I have had MANY problems with the Obama Administration...

But TODAY.. at THIS point in time, if we all don't hang together, we could very well allow the 'crackpot 'baggers to get a foothold into our Legislature.

Would you REALLY want to see a Paladino, a Rand Paul, or a Sharron Angle, or even a Christine O'Donnell in a position where they would be writing our LAWS?

THIS year, more than any other, we need to VOTE en MASSE... for if these shills for the racists, the bigots, and those whose putrid worldview ever get their hands on our system of justice.. our system of governance, we might NEVER survive to fix it later.

Here is the deal Wisconsin. You claim that you are “fed up with out of control spending”. You have one of a handful of Senators who has not requested even one earmark for your state since 2008. Total cost to taxpayers is $0. Contrast that with the Senate Minority Leader who claims to be all about cutting spending but is 5th biggest earmarker. Total cost to taxpayers is $928 million dollars for his tiny state.

You hate the constant corporate money in elections? Senator Feingold authored a bill to limit corporate influence in campaigns. Ironically with Senator McCain (who I am sure that he denies that he ever wrote this) and this bill is what the recent Supreme Court decision overturned in part.

Replacing a principled man with a guy who knows nothing about what it is like to do work for a living as he just married into his money would be a terrible mistake. It would be about as bad of a mistake as believing Mitch McConnell when he says that he wants to cut spending.

Just send me your money instead, at least you know it won't be siphoned off by Union thugs first.

Feingold is going the way of every other socialist, first failure then obscurity.

America is awake as it has not been for a long time.

These clowns are over.

I am a Green . But I have a message for the people of Wisconsin . You have representing your state the very best Senator in the entire United States Senate . There is not a man or woman in this entire country more deserving of being a United States Senator than Russ Feingold . And YOU are going to vote for a Tea Party candidate to replace HIM ? And people blame the politicians for the state of this nation . I say , you people in Wisconsin should just look in your mirror . The worst part for you will be the day after the election and you realize you have a Tea Partaker serving as your Senator for SIX LONG LONG YEARS .

You are seriously right in your position, sir. People often vote against their interests, a strangely American phenomenon! Beats me why poor out of work people turn to the rich moneyed interests to look after their welfare.

We simply cannot allow the GOP and corporations to buy our elections. These GOP and Tea Party millionnaires/billionnaires are willing to spend millions of their own money for a job that pay less than $200,000/year are not interested in helping the American people. They want to make more laws to benefits corporations.

Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government.

Already contributed (and don't live anywhere near Wisconsin) but will do it again. We need this man. And when he wins a tough race, the Dems dancing rightward will have to stop and think. This is the best way to send a message to the Dems who are wimps.

I chipped in $200 at one time and another $30 to MoveOn.org for Mr. Feingold.

Along with Franken, Ellison, Mr. Feingold ranks as the most principled, honest politician fighting for the average guy in the Senate.

I'm waiting for MoveOn to create the "caught red-handed" ads that worked so well over the last 2 election cycles.

My heart tell me Feingold will win, but it will take a lot of effort on our part to get him there!

Lets face it, Wisconsin NEEDS a new voice and Feingolds' days are numbered. Remember he is the one that casted the 60th vote for ObamaCare. Then the commercial that he is now running in the state saying that we want Ron Johnson to keep his hands off our healthcare, it should be that we SHOULDNT have had Russ put his hands on ours. He hasnt really if ever sided with what the residents of Wisconsin needs but only what Russ wants.

This is the first time ever that I am looking at sending money to a candidate and it wont be to Russ whatsoever.

Within the last month or so, I havent heard anything that would even make me want to vote for Feingold.

Its funny that he cast the 60th vote, since you cons can con anyone into claiming any Dem cast the 60th vote on healthcare.

I rather have healthcare than big bank bailouts, money for wars, and spying on Americans; all of the issues that Russ Feingold stood on the moral side, with the average Joe sixpack.
11:44 PM on 10/01/2010
Johnson was not my favorite, but Feingold has been attacked relentlessly and unless he doesn't attack back, he's gone. It looks like it's too late for him.

I rarely contribute to political campaigns, but am making an exception in the case of Russ Feingold. Although not one of his constituents, I consider him to be one of the smartest and most principled of politicians (an oxymoron if ever there was one). It would be shameful for the voters of Wisconsin to repay his efforts on their behalf by dumping him for the Republican "flavor of the month."
08:53 PM on 10/01/2010
Rasmussen has Feingold trailing by 12, 54-42. He is toast. Another lib bites the dust.
Someone mentioned that scumburger Grayson. Will be glad to see him go too.
He's useless. Florida 8 deserves better than that loud mouth. Oh yeah Webster has a
7 point lead in the polls over that big logger head grayson. He's toast also.
Does anyone else think of the Soupy Sales Show when you look at Feingold or is it just me?

Maybe Fiengold and his other friends on capitol hill should have thought about catching his President's back and told the press what a fine job he was doing instead of running their own game. I doubt Finegold can get 28,000 people to a rally which he attended half heartedly.
I blame all the Dems for not praising their President and in turn they would be praise.

I blame all the Dems for acting like cowards and letting the Repugs walk all over them for two years and turn around and blame Obama for everything. You notice Republicans never blamed Bush nor do many now.

I like Russ, OK... He has been in the Senate long enough to learned what it takes so he should not be running behind. Money is flowing like honey in all these races by Republican billionaires since Robert's decision. I would vote for Russ, but he is not my favorite.
