This should have been written for the grownup Tea Partiers, cuz it's probably on their reading level....

Gonna have to order some.

Thanks to the crack pots, they'll sell thousands more!
06:28 PM on 09/30/2010
the crack pots are the ones ordering the book
06:32 PM on 09/30/2010
So people engaging in peaceful and lawful commerce are crackpots, but the ones making death threats are sane, well adjusted people.

With supporters like you, the democratic party ought to win handily. I really shouldn't even bother debating you as your statements do far more harm to the leftist agenda than I ever could.

I'm sure as an advocate of smaller govmnt he'll settle the matter himself, rather than bother any law enforcement types.
04:57 PM on 09/30/2010
Yeah, advocating small government is exactly the same as wishing for total anarchy.
06:29 PM on 09/30/2010
mostly because the law enforcement types would probably catch on quickly to his ploy

There's the famous right wing reaction to criticism by playing the victim. Color me surprised between the lines.

Does this book require batteries for the lights, voice activation, or video screen? If not their isn't a kid in the world who will spend more than 10 seconds with this. Kids books, that's pretty funny.
05:49 PM on 09/30/2010
Sadly, that's true of the children of many conservative and liberal parents. Unfortunately, it leads to a very simplistic political ideology ala "Conservative = racist" or "Liberal = hippie." It's ALMOST tempting to look to raising the voting age to 25 and requiring a standardized test to register to vote. Perhaps then we might have choices between candidates with real standards and thoughtful policies rather than empty shirt panderers like Obama and McStain. Obviously that's not an answer, either. At least the kids who get those coloring books have a chance at growing up with a better understanding of civics and politics, whether you agree with their ideology or not.

03:57 PM on 09/30/2010
Let's you and me agree on something. I teach my kids whatever I want, you teach your kids whatever you want, and neither of us will seek to use the public schools as a vehicle for our propaganda. Fair enough?

How about this: the coloring book teaches hate but "Rachel Has Two Mommies" is inclusive & proper for children to read.

What on earth could be the problem with 'the Story of Stuff' ?? It's a great thing to be teaching kids...to know what is in the things that we use and consume...they will be better informed as adults.

...an actual quote from the book:
"When taxes are too high, the high tax takes away jobs and freedom. In 1773 we had a Tea Party and this led to freedom from high taxes. Today we are having another Tea Party and this will lead to freedom from high taxes again!"

uhm...pretty sure the whole reason behind the ORIGINAL Tea Party was that pesky 'Taxation without Representation' thing...darn those liberal history books!
04:03 PM on 09/30/2010
So every children's book should include every detail of everything, right? Instead of "The Sun is the center of our solar system and is very, very bright," we should write 200 pages discussing the temperature, various processes from the core out to the coronasphere, precise size and mass...
04:31 PM on 09/30/2010
Sorry, I realized some clarification may be in order. The passage you quoted seems generally correct, if a bit light on details, which is certainly appropriate for coloring book aged children.
12:05 PM on 09/30/2010
What a silly story, but more ridiculous is that people would threaten the publisher. For all the commotion about the Tea Party and hatred, all I see is it coming from the other side. I'm really curious why people are so threatened by the Tea Party. But then again common sense really has gone out the window anymore., that's probably why we have a Tea Party and more people joining every day.
12:44 PM on 09/30/2010
The bagger party and these ridiculous propaganda coloring books exist because there's a black man in the white house who is doing good things for all Americans. I don't believe for one second that the publisher was threatened. I'm putting that one in the propaganda column.

I have a good friend who works in the publishing industry and she just sent me the link where you can order this book. Needless to say we are both in a state of 'Whaddafug?' over it but hey, you wanna indoctrinate your kids you go right on ahead...

...yet these same people scream 'Brownshirts!' whenever President Obama gives a speech to kids about how you should study hard and be the best you can be...go figure.
12:45 PM on 09/30/2010
There's not much to "go figure" with this crowd of bigots.
05:33 PM on 09/30/2010
Right. Everyone who disagrees with you is a bigot. Gotcha.

When exactly are you guys going to stop playing that race card? It seems to me that if the only reason you can think of that a person might oppose Obama is because of the color of his skin, then perhaps YOU are the racist.

I saw the coloring book on Rachel Maddow's show and, at first, thought it must be a clever bit of satire. But it was for real. Clearly satire is becoming more and more difficult to produce.

Talk about indoctrinating children— on Tea Party ideology, no less. The people who celebrate and purchase these books (with the same pleasure they experience consuming deep-fried Twinkies) shout the loudest about the need to shield their impressionable children from hearing Pres. Obama talk to them about working hard in school.

Please. At least they're only teaching their own children their political beliefs. The left has the entire K-12 public school system at their disposal but when the right wants to privately teach their kids some of their own beliefs, the left still goes all WTFBBQOHTEHNOES!!!one!!!eleven!!!11!!! and starts threatening to KILL people. But the people putting out the book are National Socialists. Gotcha.

Rachel Maddow had the coloring book on her show yesterday & it was beyond ridiculous. She read several of the pages. It was composed of typical tea bagger rants about taxes, told the kiddies that sometimes you have to have a revolution if you don't like what the government is doing and much more garbage. Yes, that's right, right wing propaganda starting children off with the "right" principles. OMG, there IS nothing off limits with these fools.
