Justin Timberlake & Jimmy Fallon's Amazing 'History Of Rap' Medley (VIDEO)

First Posted: 09/30/10 10:12 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:55 PM ET

The audience of "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" got a special treat last night when guest Justin Timberlake performed a thorough "History of Rap" medley with Fallon and The Roots.

After talking about "The Social Network," Timberlake noted how lucky Fallon is to have The Roots as a house band, prompting them to reminisce about other hip hop legends like The Sugar Hill Gang.

The conversation quickly broke out into a full-fledged medley of the most memorable rap songs in history, from Dr. Dre to The Dream, culminating with a spirited verse of "Empire State Of Mind" with the audience.

I never particularly liked Jimmy Fallon or Justin Timberlake, but I would always meet with opposition by those who claimed that they were talented. After watching them destroy with painful hubris some of the best rap songs ever, I realize why now, more than ever, the world must admit, they suck.

I like the Fallon show he is very funny and always seem to enjoy his guest. My only con is that he is not really a Johnny Carson host. Carson was very funny and very bright. He could have on these very intellectual guest and he would be fascinated by them and could keep up with them when they chatted. I think Leno and Letterman try to do it and I think they both do it well but no one is as good at it as Carson was. But that is just my opinion.

Dude, that completely blew my hiphopocampus (the part of the brain responsible for "keepin' it real")! The only thing that could've made that better is if the old white guy in the audience towards the end bust out into the aisle and did the Running Man.

Mad props!

Hey, be on the look out for when "keepin' it real goes wrong". We don't want any(more) hiphopcasualties.

That was great! Gee, Jimmy, I think you have a future in hip-hop! I didn't expect much, ready to laugh when it began. Boy, was I wrong, they were great!

This IS pretty amazing, but not just because they imitate so well. Amazing because you see the "amazing" influence of black hip-hop culture (with the exception of Eminem and Beastie Boys) on mainstream (read "white") music culture. 95% of the crowd is white, and they're being entertained by two white men, yet the crowd, and the two white men, know the music SO well. Nice.

If they had included Fight The Power with Justin doing Flav and little Jimmy doing Chuck D that would've brought the house down.

THAT would've been GREAT!

I don't even know from hip-hop, but that was fantastic!! I may have to start paying attention. Kimmel's GOOD. The "2 goofy white guys" aspect just added to the fun.

It's Fallon, not Kimmel, even though, both are Jimmy's.
