"While the McMahons are now wealthy, with an estimated net worth of up to $370 million, it's unclear whether all her creditors were ever paid."  Sounds like SOMEBODY doesn't know what bankruptcy is.  In the end, it matters not.  The Bankruptcy Trustee controls the estates of all BK petitioners.  They could not have gotten their discharge if they did not comply with the BK judge's  Read More...

it happened in 1976, BFD. the attack of a 34 year old bankruptcy by an newspaper is an obvious sign of a biased media source and a desperate campaign tactic out of the blumenthal camp.

Yeah, like the media and Democrats forced McMahon to file for bankruptcy. You, BocaMom, ought to be on your knees thanking God that somebody's telling you the truth about these tin pot martinet TeaPublicans running for office so they can screw everyone you know.

She and her hubby certainly don't seem to wrestle with their conscience. Oh, the salve of wealth. It heals so many sins.

Right. What choice do they have, since conscience and empathy are obviously socialist values? TeaPublicans are robot zombies, marching to Jim DeMint's cadence and Rush Limbaugh's bellowing....

Bankruptcy can prevent the common person from getting a job and the same standard should be enforced in Washington. If you cannot manage your own finances how can you be expected to manage ours?

I had to file bankruptcy after losing my husband to brain cancer in 2008 and my job, which took me a year to find another, I'm sixty years old and am paying back my debts for 54 months, I bet you also don't know that Bush let the Credit Card companies and banks rewrite the bankruptcy laws while in office so for the next four years any tax returns I recieve goes straight to the bankruptcy courts, It wasn't something I wanted trust me, I've worked forty five years, had excellent credit until my husband became ill, but I had no choice, I won't see my credit back in good standing probably in what years I have left, I don't want sympathy just understanding that every case is very different.

Any one of us could be in your same situation one day. There is an insufficient safety net in this Country. I am sure things would have been different if you were worth $370 Million at one time. Good luck to you!

I commiserate with you. I wish you weren't in the position that the government wasn't a debt collector for utterly unseemly common businesses. If you ever have a choice, don't pay. I'm willing from a human and social standpoint to help create a government that attends to peoples needs and that lets corporations sink or swim (if we decide we have need of corporations).

We simply cannot allow the GOP and corporations to buy our elections. These GOP and Tea Party millionnaires/billionnaires are willing to spend millions of their own money for a jobs that pay less than $200,000/year are not interested in helping the American people. They want to make more laws to benefits corporations.

She laid off 60 people last year, 10% of her workforce, AFTER taking $9.8 million in tax credits, then paid herself $900,000 and she and her husband also picked up a tidy $88 million in stock... Of course they own 88% of WWE's stock..
But they claimed they had to make the 'stockholders' happy so they took the tax credits...
They ARE the stockholders for all intents and purposes...
Dirty is as dirty does.
Of course she wants a pat on the back for hiring back about 55 people... Probably at that minimum wage even she can't quite remember...

Judgment so easy to question when a failed Evil Knieval stunt puts you 1 million dollars in debt and you get a bailout with bankruptcy...

Bankruptcy laws aren't supposed to be there for idiots like this. They should be there for those who through unforeseen circumstances make it impossible for them to go on otherwise--medical reasons, a death in the family and the business fails, something reasonable. Sounds like she's good at gambling and losing with money she doesn't have...
10:16 PM on 10/02/2010
There is something deeply immoral about stiffing people in bankruptcy. Unless it's from medical bills, there's no moral justification for it. None.
10:21 PM on 10/02/2010
And as to medical bills........they are the main cause for bankruptcy in America.

What a joke and a fraud. She doesn't know what minimum wage is, but she figured out how to screw those she owed money to. A teabagger hero.

I would love to see a nationwide ad campaign that lumps all of the lying and chicanery of the GOP candidates together into a blanket indictment, to create a (fair assessment) narrative of incompetence and untrustworthiness in this year's GOP field. Then you could end the add with little blips of the friendly, trustworthy, rational faces of Scott McAdams, Chris Coons, etc. to fit the individual markets.

Maybe we should add Gen. McChrystal and Gen. Petraeus into that mix, somehow.

Excellent idea! Maybe you could throw in a couple of Boehner clips, since he would be their chosen Speaker of the House. Perhaps his "HE// NO" performance, or his recent Pledge to America press conference gaffe: "We're going to be the same as we've always been" (or words to that effect).

I think the tea party people have been drinking Kool-Aid, not tea, if they listen to a person who once had a million dollars and squandered it into bankruptcy, who is running on a platform of fiscal responsibility.

Don't forget that first million they lost came from a head start with Vinnie's Daddy's business!
Someone earlier mentioned something about powdered instant tea mix. Perhaps that's what they're drinking - not genuine home-brewed tea, but some corporate concoction being passed off as the real thing.
