Monday's Yves Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2011 show was pure high fashion drama. Billowy sleeves, sexy open backs, deep ruffles in jet black and gem tones, elegant satins and chiffons, fur vests and skirts for spring and a distinctly retro silhouette all contributed to the grand, theatrical whole. there is a woman who lives in my town who has had numerous hospitalizations for well 'stress" and she walks around with the same red lipstick and kabuki white face. it is quite scary up close.

When St. Laurent was still alive he rocked my world; I really thought he was head and shoulders above the rest and definitely my favourite designer..this 'collection' is a mediocre embarrassment.
I suppose it's impossible to replace him, but surely there must be more talented designers out in the world who would love the opportunity to work for the House..
