Every teacher training I have attended, ends with one of these. A fair share of them are so shy-tea, that my number one goal after it ends is to get out of there. If I were to stay, take an hour to fill it out, point out the flaws of the presenter, the organization, whatever, it would be tossed anyway.

I never answer customer service surveys.

Damn, he's right again. Bill is almost always right. I don't care if he smoked a huge crystal bong shaped like a crucifix at every press conference, I'd vote the guy into any level of government. Truth rules.

What is the difference between doing a survey and posting a feedback comment. Either way some people do them because they think somebody actually cares.

thought for the day.

This thread of comments has been very interesting. I think that a lot of the unhappy survey takers on here have experienced the minority of companies that do not really know what they are doing. Too many companies in my experience try to do their customer satisfaction surveys themselves not knowing how things work or the proper way of doing things. Please don't let the few bad apples ruin the orchard. I would absolutely DREAD the day that surveys are outlawed and could honestly tell you all that if they were you'd be upset they were gone.

In my experience companies that do customer satisfaction surveys the right way take them VERY seriously. Some of the biggest decisions that a company makes is fueled by the results of these surveys. Please take a deep breathe before you wish these gone because the world would be a scary place full of long hold times, slow call centers, and no resolution to any of your problems.

New Rule: Cranky and unjustifiably arrogant old men who are no longer relevant should learn to age gracefully and with style. LOL @ my own statement. :-)

I think it would be really funny to see Bill Maher burst into flames. The man's an ogre.

That would explain your interest in his statements...

Here's how it works: Company constructs a survey that is designed to make employees fail. Company makes survey results a major portion of salary increases. So many employees fail the company doesn't give increases or gives only minimal increases. How is it designed to make employees fail? The survey is given to a very small sample so it is not statistically valid, the only response that counts is highly satisfied....being just satisfied doesn't get you anywhere. there are many things out of employee control (quality of merchandise being one). Employees who have little contact with customers like receiving or accounting are judged by the same results as others who have daily contact. It's a flawed system designed to keep payroll down and intimidation up.

Very well put!

I'm with you on that one, Bill. I'm sick to death of surveys.

"Old guys" have the experience and knowledge, therefore, the right to gripe. Younger guys are still on the stupid side of the scale.

In a similar vein, what do you think of news shows and journalism that devote 1/3 of their air time to self-praising commercials for themselves? Look, stupid---Do the job. If it's done well, there is no commercial that can speak for you better. As it is, you're paying to primp yourself and wasting my time, which will never help your professional image. OK? Just do the job!
