Rick Sanchez APOLOGIZES To Jon Stewart: Wife

First Posted: 10/05/10 11:16 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 06:55 PM ET

Rick Sanchez has reportedly apologized to Jon Stewart for his comments last week, which resulted in his firing from CNN.

Breaking News Hound reported that Sanchez's wife, Suzanne, had updated her Facebook page late Monday afternoon. The message read:

rick apologized to jon stewart today.they had a good talk. jon was gracious and called rick, "thin-skinned." he's right. rick feels horrible that in an effort to make a broader point about the media, his exhaustion from working 14 hr days for 2 mo. straight, caused him to mangle his thought process inartfully. he got caught up in the banter and deeply apologizes to anyone who was offended by his unintended comments.

There was no comment on the apology from Mr. Sanchez himself, or from Jon Stewart — who, whatever he may have said to Sanchez in their conversation, went after Sanchez on "The Daily Show" Monday night.

I think Mr. Sanchez simply got caught up in the moment and, as we all do, spoke impulsively. I think that his show was worthwhile and he shouldn't have been fired so quickly. CNN has become such a sham. I think back to the early years when they were real newspeople, when you really could trust them. Now I watch only the evening shows on MSNBC, they are much more straightforward and honest.

Meaningless. The only thing that matters is that he stays gone.

Rick couldn't just stopped at: "I'm sorry Jon" ....?

Putting the blame of our frustrations and flaws on life on the Jews. The oldest way to find an scapegoat over the most vilified and ill used scapegoat. Shame on you Mr Sanchez. Jews do not blame their failures on Hispanics

American Jews make up only 2% of the population of America. Yet: 46% make over $100,000 per year, they make up 15% of the U.S. Senate, 13% of the U.S. House of Representatives, 67% of members of the Board of the Federal reserve, 33% of the U.S. Supreme Court. Media: Just taking CNN only, 55% of corporate officers for TBS, which owns CNN, are Jewish. On air, Larry King, John King, Howard Kurtz, Eliot Slpitzer, Jeffrey Toobin, Paula Zahn, etc.. Rick Sanchez has nothing to apologize for.

Yes, clearly all of those stats make Jon a 'bigot'.

True, but it probably was not the Jon Stewart comment that got Sanchez canned...I doubt Stewart would have cared and probably would have gotten some good material off of it for his next show and spat with Sanchez...

And then ? Jews are smart people. He has nothing to apologize for ? I do not agree, are you and him jealous of the Jews achievements ? You forgot that Jews also encompass more than 20 % of nobel prizes, something they are proud of-

Did it ever occur to many of the posters here that it wasn't his comments about Jews being big players in the media or Jon Stewart being a bigot that got him fired, but maybe it was that he insinuated that his bosses at CNN had made racist comments that did him in?

After reading the transcripts, if I were a top guy at CNN, I would be more pissed that one of my employees said a top CNN exec made racially insensitive comments than making an offhand remark about the fact the much of the media has a Jewish individual at the helm or opining about Jon Stewart.

I'm sure the leaders at CNN are pleased that all the bickering about these other topics means they don't have to talk about the real issue that would have brought them negative attention; who in the CNN executive structure groups Hispanics together and doesn't think they should be anchors because of their ethnicity?

I always like listening to RS on Sirius while driving... and then enjoyed his TV show on in the background. Engaging type, big doofus sort, and not an angry screamer, which is refreshing lately. The whole episode really surprised me.

Bet he feels absolutely low, terrible right now. Like blowing the big shot. Terribly clumsy way to do it. I, for one, hope he doesn't stay gone.

Having a low rated show on a low rated network leaves Sanchez little room for error. Had his show had better ratings, he would have just been off the air for a week undergoing "counseling".

An American who had the decency to apologize because he felt he was in the wrong? That's amazing. I wish someone like that would take up politics.

Big boys are supposed to be more thoughtful than RS was.
I have zero pity for this loose mouth. Apology damn near 99% unacceptable.

I think his words involved far more jealousy of one man than it did actual antisemitism. He said something stupid and offensive in an effort to make an excuse for Stewart's success...which includes Stewart receiving applause at Sanchez's expense. I'm not sure, but I think this makes Sanchez even sadder. Stewart is also a very small man, physically speaking. Maybe Sanchez could have come up with a "conspiracy of the little" theory too. Whatever. I'm done with this.
