The Worst Instances Of Self-Promotion Ever (PHOTOS)

Although private contractors or practices receive most of their business through word-of-mouth and personal references, it's often necessary to solicit business by advertising to the masses. Unfortunately, a knack for a particular trade does not always translate to solid promotional instincts. Most ads promoting a realtor, lawyer or private contractor are exceedingly bland, but sometimes they really succeed at grabbing attention -- even if it's for unintended reasons. Here are some of the most bizarre, misguided or clumsy attempts at self-promotion. Vote for the worst one!

Rich Will Wanket: Not only a fine realtor, but a (disgusting) complete sentence of a name!

On #11: "Call us crazy, but we're not sure a lawyer comparing himself to a gorilla does him any favors." Nor the gorilla!

On #1: Rich Will Wanket says, "It's all Real Estate Masturbation if your agent isn't doing the work necessary to buy or sell your home." I bet he'll never get Christine O'Donnell's business!

Allison Margolin (L.A's Dopest Atty) looks like a hot mess.

I'd be all over that.

He's been a plastic surgeon for royalty all over Europe. He once gave a great white shark implants. He took Al Roker's fat and used it to feed an entire village in Africa.

He is... the most interesting man in the world.

I actually looked up Dopest on youtube - call her approach a "fail" all you want, she really is a self-promotional genius, and she knows where her intended clientele lives and breathes.

I think #11 works well. Imagine if your local Democrat had that image as part of their campaign. As an angry constituent, do you want someone who will continue to be steamrollered by the GOP or someone who will Get It Done? I bet you know what my answer would be...

It's funny that a majority of them were either real estate agents or lawyers. Silver-tounged professions.

Some of these may look crazy to some of us, but without knowing the target market and the effectiveness, this article is just one person's opinion and therefor meaningless.

Still, number 3, Need a Good Lawyer, cracked me up. If your lawyer is not driving around in a great car and showing lots of bling, you do not have the best representation. In this case bling can be loosely defined.

I also bet Lance got more responses than he could deal with.

But the man's head sheep really sent a chill up my spine. That guys a no go no matter what.
