Darrelle Revis Criticizes Randy Moss's Effort

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Darrelle Revis is ready to play, and you can bet Randy Moss hopes the Jets cornerback is out there defending him Monday night.

Revis added another chapter to their personal rivalry Wednesday, saying Moss – now with the Minnesota Vikings – eased up in the second half of New England's 28-14 loss to New York three weeks ago.

"He came out full force, early in the game," Revis said. "In the second half, you could tell he was kind of like putting his foot on the brake. But everybody knows that's Randy: sometimes he plays 100 percent, sometimes he doesn't."

Revis was limited at practice Wednesday, but hopes to play after missing the last 2 1/2 games with a strained left hamstring. He was injured defending Moss on a touchdown catch late in the first half of the game in Week 2.

"You can see the effort," Revis said. "Playing football, you can see the body language and the effort of people when they're out there playing, if a guy's going hard or if a guy's hesitant."

Moss, traded by New England on Wednesday, was held without a catch in the second half while being defended mostly by Antonio Cromartie. Revis thinks Moss' lack of effort was the main reason for that blanking.

"That's just the way football is," Revis said. "You can see the truth comes out. I don't know if it was frustration of him not getting the ball a lot or whatever, but you can see it."

Revis referred to Moss as a "slouch" while playing a word-association game on the NFL Network in January. Moss playfully fired back during an interview with ESPN before the Patriots played the Jets, saying: "I don't really get into the trash talking, but if what he called me was a 'slouch,' then I guess the 'slouch' will be there to see you on Sunday."

Whether the matchup even happens Monday night remains to be seen, given Revis' health. He said he felt great – "no pulls or anything today" – after practice, but reiterated that he wants to be 100 percent healthy before playing again.

"I want to play right now," Revis said. "But I know they wouldn't be letting me play if the game were today."

Coach Rex Ryan said it's too early to tell if Revis will play, and if so, where he'll line up – on his usual left side, the right side or even in the slot.

"We'll see," Ryan said. "He moved out there pretty well today."

Revis heard the rumors of an impending trade between the Patriots and Vikings for Moss while checking Twitter late Tuesday night.

"A lot of the fans were coming at me a little bit on Twitter saying I better get my hamstring ready for Monday night against Randy again," Revis said. "Hopefully, if I get to play Monday, I get to see him sooner than I thought I would."

Revis might have also added some bulletin board material for the Patriots.

"I was surprised that New England would do something like that, because he's a big part of their offense," he said. "I don't think they're going to have a vertical game."

The Jets play the Patriots at Foxborough, Mass., on Dec. 6 – also a Monday night game.

Revis fakes a hammy when he's toasted by Moss the first time, and he's mouthing off again about Randy giving up? Me knows who the quitter is.

Randy Moss is useless if the old man Favre can't get him the ball.

Michael Wilbon said it best on PTI Thursday:

Quit whining and man up and acknowledge you got beat. Also, quit disrespecting your team mate who did an excellent job on the man while you were on the sidelines.

Its funny what "slouch" Randy Moss has been able to accomplish in his Hall of Fame career. Lots of reporters have complained about Moss- yet his production has been high though out his career.

Revis, Revis, Revis....overrated, obviously. Why? Because the best DBs lock down the best receivers and force teams to go to their 2 and 3 options downfield. Revis, you can't do that. Evidence? Week 2 against the Patriots (or was it 3?) when Moss had you beat in the first 10 yards of the play, dude! Five yards into the route, Moss was wavin his hand to Brady cuz he knew you were smoked like a Swisher Sweet. HAHAHAH And when you came up lame I started to laugh. You're what we call a "try hard". You try hard to be the best, but, you'll never be the best as long as you try hard. No one cares what your opinion of Moss is and my bet is if you're in the game Monday, you'll be looking at the back of number 84 thinking, "WTF?!"

Try hard? The Slouch gave his ALL to beat Revis...and did, no doubt about it; but he had nothing in his tank left and New England lost the game. Which is the point of the game isn't it? Winning the game, not catching one TD pass against an 'overrated' DB whom you(Moss) have now elevated to nemesis, instead of doing your job?

You'd BETTER hope the o-line protects Favre; I don't care if you're walking on water, no o-line, means no running, no passes, no receptions, means Moss is walking through the same losers tunnel after the game...AGAIN.

Only thing different is the uniform.

I admit that I never heard of Revis until this season. I worked every Sunday for a few years. But now that I know his name, it's related to nothing good. Moss is a "ME" player, surprised? But he still smoked you MEvis. Pulling another hamstring on monday?
11:21 PM on 10/07/2010
Oh wait — Moss is going to embarrass Revis AGAIN Monday by sending his weary body to the locker room early.
11:20 PM on 10/07/2010
Revis had to go the locker room because his body couldn't keep up with Moss. He should be thankful he doesn't have to play him anymore. Revis is OVERRATED.

Revis looked like a twelve-year-old a few weeks ago when Moss burned him bad for that TD. And suddenly Revis comes up holding his hamstring -sure Darrelle. That was a lame effort on your part but a stellar acting job after you ended up ten feet behind Randy in the end zone.

Even Randy Moss has admitted hundreds of times that he plays when he "wants" to. What is wrong with a little competitive commentary on occasion? As BY FAR the best cornerback in the league, Darrelle Revis has an absolute right to trash-talk as much as he wants until someone proves they can truly outplay him. Who knows if that will or will not be Randy Moss on Monday's game, because that all depends - as it always does with Randy Moss - on the amount of effort he is willing to put into the game.

Thats right Revis give the Vikings Moss more motivation to compete come Monday Night.

You'll be singing a different tune after Brett and the boys finally get back into form against the wannabe Jets.

Go Vikes!
