N + 1 Kills The Hipster, Again, In New Book (POLL)

Hipster

Literary journal n + 1 will be releasing a small book entitled 'What Was The Hipster' -- a "sociological investigation" into the hipster trend, and whether or not it has left for good. The journal's editors convened a year earlier to discuss the topic, a forum which the Observer profiled. At the panel Christian Lorenzen, a senior Harper's editor, had this to say:

"the truth is that there was no such culture worth speaking of, and the people called hipsters just happened to be young, and, more often than not, funny-looking."
It is a culture, or trend, or style, or way-of-being, that many have tried to kill before.

Quick Poll

What do you think -- is the hipster dead?

Yes, the 2000's are over.

No, hipsters will live forever and ever.

What is a hipster?

I don't care.

Hipsters tend to be well off young adults who like to dress in old/ worn clothes and look poor, have no job, and yet can afford to pay 2k in rent for a studio because they have mommy and daddy's money.

"Hipster" simply means anyone under the age of 40 who lives in an urban environment and likes music. That's it.

Yeah. That's about right. Just add 'unjustified arrogance' and you'd be spot on. You'll notice that they never call themselves that, just other hipsters.
