It is so sad that so many beautiful trees had to be sacrificed to support this expensive sport, no to mention the fuel burned to travel miles up and down the mountain

Although vail as a ski mountain is massive and stunning (my favorite on a fresh powder day), the views from the top and the quality of the town are not even the best in Colorado, let alone the world.

On her 4th day snowboarding (ever) I took my wife to the top of Blackcomb (in Whistler BC). We paid way too much for the stupid picture at the top, and then spent the rest of the day getting down. That was in 2007. Last year my wife was charging the Chutes at Castle Mtn in Alberta. Life does not get better than when you're on the hill... IMHO.

Rusutsu Japan?

In what world is this considered a "stunning" ski area? Have the editors even been to half the places mentioned in this list?

Niseko by far is the crown jewel of Hokkaido skiing, and even then, isn't as "stunning" terrain and scenery-wise, as some of the backcountry areas around Hakuba in Nagano.

Come on HuffPo. Thanks for some pictures of a few mountains. Where are the ski resorts?
Are you just filling space or what? Is there some sort of supervisor who actually looks at an article before it goes online as the "world's most stunning ski areas". I especially like the "resort" picture of Hokaido Japan......there is no snow you idiot!

Where the heck is Jackson hole, Grand Targhee or anywhere in the LakeTahoe Region??? this is a weak photo montage that is not indicative of the worlds scenic ski/board destinatipons very poor job with even weaker photos

North Dakota has more beautiful ski areas than Vail.

Photos are all outside. In the snow. In the cold. In the wind.

I judge ski slopes by the efficiency of the fireplace in the lounge and the selection of beer on tap. Number and quality of snow bunnies is also a consideratin.

Worst and most disconnected 'headline to pictures' post you guys have Ever done.

Only TWO of the pics have an actual ski run in it and Half your pics don't have any snow.
