Abed's Secret Storyline On Last Week's 'Community' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 10/11/10 01:45 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:00 PM ET

If you watched last Thursday's episode of "Community," you probably noticed there wasn't too much coverage of oddball, pop-culture obsessed, budding filmmaker Abed. However, if you watched REALLY closely, you'd have seen that Abed was there the entire time, having his own storyline unfold in the background. Thankfully, YouTube user Socksta made this awesome montage of all Abed's scenes so you can follow his plot line until the climactic end. Hopefully he'll return to the spotlight next week. This shows how ingenious the writers and creator of this show are. I caught him helping the girl outside and the delivery, but completely missed the rest. God I love this show.

Hilarious. That is the first episode I have seen of Community so I had no idea the character was even "missing".

Wow, Community is the only thing ever awesome enough to entirely keep the trolls away

Wow, I am going to have to start paying closer attention to the show. I can't believe I missed this good stuff.

This show is a hundred times better than it's competitor on Thursday nights The Big Bang Theory.

That's a close second for me, loved the paintball episode, the fact that they put in so many movie references in just 30 minutes.

Can't believe so many people missed Abed. When you watch community you really have to be alert because there are all kinds of jokes going on in the background, on the blackboard, etc.. Every episode is worth watching at least twice!

This show is so darn clever. Just got done listening to the commentary on all of the season one episodes, and each one is great. If you like the show, at least rent the first season on DVD so you can catch the commentaries and extras. It's totally worth it.

One thing I learned is how obsessed with humorous detail their art department is. Apparently every poster and sign in the background, every picture and chalkboard, has writing on it that is both realistic and funny AND matches/riffs on whatever is taking place on the show. So this little subtle plot with Abed in the background is totally in keeping with Community's clever attention to detail.

Spiffy!

If you are a fan of interesting things going on in the background and quirky humor, watch 'Stranger with Candy'. (The stuff on the walls and blackboards are hilarious)

Oh! i didn't notice this at all. I figured something must have been up when at the end of the episode Shirley asks Abed how he was doing because she hadn't seen much of him that week. It seemed like an odd line, but now it makes so much sense! Community is my favorite show. They are so creative.

This show is hilarious and I find it funny that no one caught this. You could clearly see him the whole time.

wow - this makes me realize how little i pay attention to the background!
