Calling All Bloggers: Blog Action Day Is On Oct. 15

Blog Action Day, created by Envato founders Collis and Cyan Ta'eed in effort to unite the diverse blogosphere under one cause, will be celebrating its third anniversary under Change.org's umbrella on Friday, October 15.

While past themes have focused on the environment and poverty, this year's topic aims to inject fresh focus into a critical issue: water.

"Clean water is an important but often-overlooked cause. Change.org estimates almost 1 billion people across the planet don't have access to clean, safe drinking water. That's nearly one in eight people who are subject to preventable disease and death due to poor drinking water and unhygienic water for everyday needs. Approximately 4,500 children die each day from unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation facilities."

Change.org reports that the average American uses 15 times more water per day than the average citizen in a developing country.

Last year over 10,000 bloggers from 152 countries joined in the discussion.

To participate alongside nonprofit partners including Greenpeace, UNICEF, charity: water, and water.org, simply register your blog before Friday or simply embed the widget your homepage. Change.org provides inspiration for those suffering from blogger's block.

Non-bloggers can still get involved by signing the petition to help the UN supply the world's poorest regions with clean water.
