Comedians Take On DADT Supporters By Mimicking Them To Perfection (VIDEO)

First Posted: 10/11/10 01:15 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:00 PM ET

In the second installment of Funny Or Die's "G.A.Y.S." or "Guys Against You Serving" PSAs, comedians Craig Robinson, Rob Huebel, Ben Garant and more take on Don't Ask Don't Tell supporters in a hilarious way. By mimicking the ridiculous reasons why someone shouldn't be allowed to serve based on what they do in the bedroom, these comics use humor to draw attention to an important issue. Listen to all the reasons they're "against" gays in the military to see just how nonsensical DADT can really be.

While this wasnt funny at all, Im a conservative who is all for gay americans being allowed to serve in our armed forces.

Also being an army brat I can also understand people that are against it. The army isnt about gay or straight rights, in fact cadets/marines etc are ground into their minds from day one that they are not individuals but a cog in a much larger machine. While this may sound harsh, it provides the most efficient effective military machine.

What happens when DADT is repealed(which it will be)? 5 years down the line will the marines be subject to gay pride rallys? Will other soldiers who voice their disapproval be punished? Unless someone is in physical danger, our armed forces are not the place for political correctness.

O.K. wolf. Gays serving openly in the U.S. military is NOT political correctness. It IS AMERICANS serving their country as they are. They wear their uniforms as any other American does. They fight as any other American does. They die as any other American does.

Why can't they live and express themselves as ANY OTHER AMERICAN does??

I agree, and as i said earlier i support repealing DADT(along with many other conservatives and republicans, you might be surprised).

The problem is the "live" and "express" are words that are extremely subjective. Gays should be able to serve simply because their not being able to serve as human beings and citizens is EXCLUSIONARY and wrong. But when it comes to gay rights in themselves within the army/navy etc as a soldier, there should be none.

From what perspective are you coming from.?.. just curious since I know mine and disagree at the moment, but then I don't have a personal relationship with the issue

Well, I just mentioned to Ari (next post down) that it's just another view, a different perspective at a problem that has continued to plague politicians all these many years.
They just can't seem to find the right way to cash in on the event of homosexuality, and most are taking the easy way out. Declaring it to be a sub-class, and rant and rave against it.
Ah, the bully pulpit is such a hard animal to ride in this day and age...

I just couldn't find this funny. I've heard much better jokes on the subject. Glad these aren't the comedic leaders of tomorrow.

I have to agree. As much as I agree with what they're doing, it just didn't make me laugh. Real politicians like Paladino crack me up though. Reality is funnier than art most of the time.

Different approaches to a continued problem.
Humor is a fragile point at best.
Some people laugh their butts off at the chicken crossing the road, while others laugh their butts off if the chicken gets run over by Col. Sanders.

Unfortunately, these guys are preaching to the choir. I doubt if many of those who need to see this will see it (or even recognize themselves if they do). But keep up the good work, anyway.

Nah, the hard core gay haters won't care HOW much it costs cause anything justifies their bigotry and these political days, the "fiscally conservative" Repub leaders don't care either cause it's a drop in the bucket while they can use it to pander to their Right. The money issue is a dog that won't hunt with them.

Someone should throw out the numbers with the dollar signs on this ridiculous policy. That should throw the "fiscal conservatives" for a loop.

"Yeah, cause it's totally OKAY to discharge a qualified gay person we spent taxpayer dollars training for what he/she does in the privacy of their bedroom with consenting adults. And it's totally OKAY to keep the borderline psychopaths with brain injuries who like to mutilate innocent Afghani citizens. Hey, we'll even pay to cover for them! (scoffs) We don't mind paying money for PR when this all gets out or having to find ways to recruit straight people who don't want to be in our military anyway. And all the court hearings we have to pay for and time taken out of the field from officers who have to attend to prosecute a guy for being gay sounds reasonable to me. I don't see anything wrong with it. The close knit military familial bonds will in fact be strengthened when that soldier who's spent years getting to know his fellow officers gets discharged and replaced with a complete and utter stranger." *smiles*

Government Accountability Office (2005 report): DADT= 1st 10 years, at least $190.5 million. Roughly $20,000 per discharged service member.

But...

The Palm Center, including several important factors the GAO left out, found: DADT=$363.8 million—$173.3 million, or 91 percent, more than originally reported by GAO.

That's from 2009.

The anti gay lobby is not impressed by these figures. If it costs billions to keep gays out of the military, they would gladly pay.

I was thinking, this is how some people really speak, because I have heared it. No one who lives in this country deserves that. They should play it sundays in a church, so people can see, how hateful they are.

I suppose we're supposed to go back in time and pick out all the gays and lesbians who served honorably in WW1, WW2, Korean War, Viet Nam War, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, and get them out of the war?

Obviously can't do that but they could recall their medals for valor. I have no idea what these anti- gay folks could think up. With what they've said so far, it could be anything.

We don't care if our prisons take in Gays, and we sure don't segregate them when they do.
02:48 PM on 10/12/2010
Actually most prisons do have a separate block for gays (at least in the mens' prisons), but it is strictly voluntary.
