Sister Teresa Fitzgerald Helps Children Of Imprisoned Mothers

Moved by the struggles of young children whose mothers are in prison, one New York nun felt called to take action.

CBS Evening News reports Sister Teresa Fitzgerald founded an organization to help families while mothers are incarcerated and after they are released.

Called Hour Children, the Long Island nonprofit provides services to mothers and children, helping them cope while separated and start fresh once the mothers have completed their sentence.

CBS Evening News interviewed Sister Teresa Fitzgerald, as part of their ongoing American Spirit series.
