This week is a good one, and dog lovers will especially be delighted with our choices for the best animal photos, as we've got some awesome pics of canines from all over the world. But don't fret feline fans, there are some adorable cats in the mix as well, even if they are in goofy costumes.
Of course, there's a bunch of adorable babies -- orangutans, bonobos and flamingos -- in addition to other wonderful shots, including a set that will get you into the autumn spirit with some gorgeous moments of wildlife grazing amongst nature's poetically transforming colors.

How have conservatives reacted to the return of science to our public policy decisions? Have they gone as crazy as they have about the economy, health care and Wall Street?
Tomorrow coyotes throughout Nova Scotia will be snared and trapped in a government-sponsored bounty spree. The killing will pay $20 per coyote pelt with the intent of reducing the population.
Being pro-free market and anti-big government, conservatives value money too much and regulation not enough, a blend culminating in Oscar Wilde's indictment of "knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing."
I've heard a lot of talk about BPA, almost none of it good. It's used in all kinds of things: electronics, DVDs, car dashboards, eyeglass lenses and polycarbonate plastics, from microwavable containers to infant sippy cups.
The dedicated staff of Gorongosa are doing their part to remake the park. The end result will look different than it did before -- that's a given. But that's also perfectly fine. It just needs to be something that the world will treasure.
The wombat looks quite happy being cuddled like a chubby little child. One of my favorite photos is of a wombat. It was taken at the Taronga Zoo in Australia. What can only be described as a strapping young zoo worker had hoisted a wombat up over the fence so my ex could stand with it's head next to the wombat to have his picture taken. Just as my friend snapped the photo, the wombat leaned over and nipped my ex on the ear and the handsome blonde zoo attendant chuckled as my ex winced. We had gone through a very unpleasant breakup only a couple of months prior to that and although we have been the best of friends for years now, looking at that picture always makes me smile.

The section of the animal pictures is always my favorite. Yet, it also makes me very sad to realize that we, fine humans, drive so many species to extinction.
