9 Best Brewery Tours In America (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 10/15/10 12:52 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:00 PM ET

Call us lushes, but we like to take brewery tours. There is something so oddly informational and, of course, fun about them.

We've been to a bunch of these breweries and had a blast, but we want to go to more like Anheuser-Busch for the history and Dogfish Head because of its name.

What are your favorite breweries around the country to take a tour? What did we miss? Let us know!

Interesting tours all. I sent in an Ommegang brewery photo. It's glorious up here in the fall, on our old 150 acre hop farm. If the photo doesn't show up above, look it up at www.ommegang.com

Apparently no one has ever tasted Bell's Brewery (Kalamazoo) - fine purveyors of Two Hearted Ale and Oberon.

A special treat is the Stone Brewing Co. in Escondido California in San Diego County. Really beautiful with an awesome bistro. Our group Green Drinks meets there on a monthly basis. This is home for the oaked Arrogant Bastard Ale and many others.

How'd ya miss New Belgium, in Fort Collins, Colorado?! Consistently voted one of the best places to work in the US; great beer; friendly people; cool tour and tasting room.

I remember going on the Coors tour. We kept asking the guide dumb questions about exploding equipment and if anyone "lost an arm" in the various brewing devices. She thought it was funny the first 5 times or so but when we didn't stop asking those questions I think her and everyone on the tour was kind of annoyed. We were really high so we didn't care. Then we went way over the 2 drink maximum at the end of the tour and ended up puking in the bathroom. It was awesome!

No Heineken Brewery tour in Amsterdam? I have taken many of the others on the list, but none of them are in Amsterdam and none of them have a sen-surround amusement ride!

My bad: they limited it to the USA. In any case, if you find yourself in Amsterdam, you know what to do!

You totally overlooked the Saint Arnold Brewery, Houston, Texas.

1st off the Flying Dog picture is of when it was in Denver (they couldn't hang apparently). Secondly Colorado has the Most micro brews per capita and yet "Coors" is the only one that got the "awesome" label. What about New Belgium or Better yet the Small but Awesome Great Divide.

BOOO this list. .. Magic hat is a great tour though thumbs up to that.

I believe you mean Colorado is 5th highest.

"What are your favorite breweries around the country to take a tour? What did we miss? Let us know!"
it's not like it's a definitive list.
