Waikiki Edition Hotel Opens Friday (PHOTOS)

Today is a big day in the hotel industry. The Waikiki EDITION, the first partnership between famed high-end hotelier Ian Schrager and Marriot Hotels opens today on Waikiki beach.
Ian Schrager, famous for the Mondrian, Delano, Royalton and Gramercy Park Hotels, among others, has branched out into a brand of "lifestyle hotels" called EDITION.
The 353-room hotel has starting rates of $375, but the cheapest room normally will be roughly $195 (with the Penthouse going for $9,995 a night).

The partnership plans to open hotels in Istanbul, Mexico City, Barcelona, Bangkok and South Beach.
