The 2010 midterm elections are upon us, and Google can be a fast, easy way to keep track of the candidates and the issues. Although, if you've been querying Google Instant with the names of elected officials, you may have noticed some strange search suggestions.

Google Instant is a predictive search feature that algorithmically displays interactive suggestions that change as you type. According to the Google Web Search team, Instant's predictions are based on popular queries from other users. The feature is designed to shave precious seconds off your search time. However, Instant sometimes yields outlandish, awkward or downright silly suggestions.

Apparently, users have been querying Google with crazy phrases about politicos. View our slideshow (below) to see some of the craziest search suggestions from Google Instant, and vote for your favorites. To view "sexy searches" banned from Google Instant, click here. I learned something here. Mitch McConnell is a turtle, Sarah Palin has breast implants, and Bill Clinton is black. Okay, moderators...not one word out you - these were pulled right off the screen shots....

Idiot seems to be the common thread. Our politicians really are not idiots. It is too bad so many people perceive them as idiots, and show such disrespect. Of course, if they didn't spend so much time acting like idiots and saying such idiotic things, politicians would be called idiots less often.

There is a discrepancy between the views of the public and that of a politician, regarding what a politician is supposed to be. To lawyerly politicians, they are enterprising people working in government, representing their constituents (agents of lobby) as a lawyer would, having private outside income. They are representatives because of their social status, affirmed by public vote. There are no conflicts of interest.

To the public, lawyers are not formal representatives as a lawyer, but actually represent their own views, who gain office by public affirmation because they agree with the politicians viewpoint. Outside income is considered to be a conflict of interest.

It would be great if Google maps showed us where the CEOs live that outsourced our jobs.

The available fixes are few & risky. We had many more options when we were rich & powerful. Having lost that, we have surrendered a huge advantage.

First, we need dramatic campaign finance reform. Now that the Supreme Court has authorized foreign companies or governments to buy our elections, we are in worse trouble than ever. Secondly, we need to dramatically increase the tax rate on the rich. There is nothing wrong with the American Dream of wealth & success. However, annual net incomes above a certain level become excessive & lead to greed.

The necessary income to trigger the max rate may be debated. It can be $1M, $3 or even $10M. Above whichever amount, the tax rate should be punitive. Anyone who cannot live out their life quite comfortably on even a single year's $10M salary garners no sympathy from me. China's currency is undervalued & needs to be increased. However, because they hold so much of our debt & manufacture so much of what we need to exist, we can expect retaliation in the form of a trade war.

There are other possible avenues, but none is risk free or guaranteed to succeed. For those who ever saw the movie War Games, sometimes the only way to win is not play at all. We played & we lost. Our position to control our destiny is much weaker today than it was 10-20 years ago. Tomorrow, it will be weaker than today.

Google Instant will not be working at maximum efficiency until you can Google "Mr. Potato Head" and come up with John McCain, or enter "Tang" and come up with John Boehner.
