Are Air New Zealand's New Commercials Too Risque? (VIDEO)

Air New Zealand is not an airline to shy away from controversy. After all, this is the airline of the outrageous "cougar" ad which caused controversy earlier this year not to mention the "naked" campaign of 2009.

The airline is at it again, this time with a fury, heavily-accented animal who makes lewd comments to passengers, mostly about women and their anatomy.

Though it's not clear what the point of the ad campaign is, they are mildly entertaining, if not thoroughly confusing, especially when you realize these are ads for an airline.

HILARIOUS... it's about the fine line between English sayings & English dirty sayings... the guy who's 'big mouth' is being mocked is maybe Russian, French, Eastern European... it doesn't matter... it's taking the piss out of someone who is too comfortable with the language; not very offensive.

Having worked in ANZ's advertising and pr departments in the USA many years ago, I can appreciate their humor. Nothing like Kiwis at your home, party, or workplace. Not sure this will fly with the uptight US market that freaks when you show breasts! Now, that being said, I think it does go a little too far without showcasing the fun of this brand. ANZ is the best airline in the sky as far as I am concerned, and I have flown them all. Humor is great for their image - but sex talk in the air......hummmmm it would be great to see their stats!

Although I love the kids' facial expressions, I didn't agree with the little girl in the first clip that the furry creature's story was pants. I thought it was whimsical and delightful!

Offensively hilarious. That furry bushy tailed talking whatever certainly caught my attention. And the planes look awesome. I would give it a try. Can I order the 'furry flyer' as a doll?

they are trying too hard ... the connection (or 'relationship') they r trying to build btwn lifestyle and the airline has not worked (for me). does not make me want to fly ANZ. I hope they have some other marcomms + social media campaign(s) to 'warm up' the audience for these ads and create a 'cult' atmosphere around these ads so that they can be loked at in that context.
Is it the same agency that created the succesful 'Compare The Meerkat.com' campaign in the UK or are they sort of trying to be inspired by it? (not succesful - i think)
