According to a recent U.N. report (PDF), the "economic invisibility of nature is a problem" for humankind.

Despite the fact that as many as 500 million people worldwide depend on coral reefs for fisheries and tourism, conservation of the reefs isn't a big issue in mainstream media--even as the habitat faces "warmer and more acidic seas as a result of climate change."
