From Glasgow, Scotland the A82 -A83 up through Loch Lomond, Inverary, and Loch Fyne to Campbeltown is splendid -- the sweeping mountains and lovely water, with old castles here and there. Inverary is beautiful.

Most scenic drives in Europe - how about, 275 yards straight down the middle of the first fairway of the Royal and Ancient?

Switzerland is gorgeous.

No sign of the English Lake District or the Peaks? Or the Scottish Highlands? Or North Wales?
Or Provence in France?
No Austria? Or the Carpathian Mountains?

The Ardeche gorge is almost Provence, it's just north of where my mom lives & is very beautuful drive. However there are equally good drives to the east on the other side of the Rhone river. The drive from Perpignan to Andorra is spectacular too.

There's hardly a place in the Scottish Highlands that don't put most of these places to shame.

Often true but my last trip, the last couple of weeks of last October, it was shirtsleeve weather the entire time, except when on the ferries. October is the best month for weather almost everywhere in the Northern Hemisphere.

I love Germany's Romantic Road! I'm so glad to see it on this list. Wurzburg, the northernmost city on the route, is an undiscovered architectural gem, a beautiful city of about 130,000 residents. Rothenburg and Neuschwanstein are also worth the trip.

Done that and been to the other two places too. Its was a wonderful drive. There are still other places in Germany who are quite beautiful. A cruise on the Rhine river, with all the castles left and right.

Lot of pretty drives everywhere. I could suggest the M14 from Chisinau to Edinet. Beautiful vistas of the lesser Carpathians, rustic villages, lovely countryside

I'm definitely going to bookmark this one. I'd say almost any area of northern Spain, along the Bay of Biscay, is unforgettable, the Basque Pyrenees are to die for, but one of the least known, and most amazing drives is along the Douro River in Northern Portugal, or down one of the tributaries, from Vila Real to Pinhao, is just amazing. The vineyards are so steep, the rows are separated by ladders--the ancient homes, stone walls, vineyards lost in time--you can still see some areas worked with horses or mules. Stop by the Mateus mansion on the way.

Very nice, but there are equally stunning drives right here in the US of A and Canada. Anywhere along the Pacific coast in Oregon or Norther California, the Rockies, UP of Michigan.
