NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Actress Gwyneth Paltrow will be taking the stage at next month's Country Music Association Awards – as a performer.

She'll sing the title track of her new movie, "Country Strong," and will be joined by Vince Gill.

Paltrow stars in the film with Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund and Leighton Meester. She plays a washed up country singer who gets romantically involved with a rising singer-songwriter (Hedlund). They try to resurrect her career with a major tour, headed up by her husband/manager (McGraw) and featuring a beauty-queen-turned-singer (Meester.)

Paltrow says she researched a lot of country music history for this role.

"I sort of started at the beginning with Hank (Williams) Sr. and Johnny Cash and really studied Dolly (Parton) and Loretta Lynn, and kind of just started at the beginning and went all the way through and found the people that I really love and who inspired me," she told The Associated Press in a recent interview.

In addition to classic country stars, Paltrow also has some current country music favorites.

"I really like a lot of the young women in country right now, like Ashley Monroe and Miranda Lambert," she said. "I had never really known very much about country music, and I now am very into it. I know a lot more about it than I did."

The film hits theaters in Los Angeles and Nashville on Dec. 22 and nationwide on Jan. 7. The soundtrack will be released Oct. 26.

Previously announced performers for the CMA Awards include Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Keith Urban. Zac Brown Band and Alan Jackson will perform together, and Miranda Lambert and Sheryl Crow will sing a duet to honor Loretta Lynn's 50th anniversary as a recording artist.

The CMA Awards will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena Nov. 10 on ABC.

I am really not looking forward to this. So is she now entering the country music world as a career choice or is it for her new movie coming out?? Either way, I don't fancy her voice.

I don't want to sound cynical, but considering how think her voice was in "Duets," I wonder if her live performance will actually be live or a lip sync. It's one thing to have a producer who can auto-tune and weave your voice with voices on different tracks to make you sound stronger (like they used to do with Paula Abdul), but live is all you. Maybe she'll surprise me.

Gwyneth sings ok.

She's fashionissima though.

Will this madness ever stop. I am waiiting for one, just one, article from the self important Gwen about something other than herself. She is no Angelina when it comes to helping others. Say what you want about AJ but you don't see her writting columns about herself but GP breaks wind and writes about it. Am I just a nut or do others see her as shallow and egotistical, even when others write a column about her.

Maybe Gwyneth is a founding member of HP? Knows where someone's skeletons are buried? Is besties with the entertainment page editor?

Oh, enough.

She not only sang in Duets but did a really wonderful cameo in the other Truman Capote movie, Infamous, where she sings. She is talented indeed. Otherwise, she is obnoxious and clueless.

Ugh... I'd rather have my fingernails ripped from their nail beds than have to listen to Huey Lewis ever again, and I thought that Duets song sucked big time. I think she *thinks* she's a singer, but should probably just stick with acting and naming her kids after fruit.

I can't stand this woman, but she does have a great voice.
