Heroin Dealers Target Suburban High Schools

Heroin Dealers Target Suburban High Schools

The residents of Stanwood, Wash., a community just outside of Seattle, are grimly addressing an unlikely suburban epidemic: nearly 50 of the town's high school students have become addicted to heroin.

Lloy Schaaf, assistant superintendent of the school district, expresses his concern to ABC News:

"It's all of our problem...We all need to own it and we all need to do something about it."

ABC News reports that this abuse isn't isolated to Seattle. Similar incidents have overwhelmed communities across the nation including Columbus, Ohio, Denver, Colo., and Charlottesville, N.C., as dealers have pushed their marketing drive to suburbs.
