Uk Pope Visit

patheos.com:

It might seem strange to open a reflection on Pope Benedict XVI's recent missionary journey to Britain by flagging an initiative by people not normally admitted to the ecumenical tent, but in reality the pope's visit seems to have pre-empted this venture . . . or is it a move of the Holy Spirit?

I don't necessarily believe money talks, but I do see something stinky walking.

"Roman Catholics could be forgiven for feeling cowed by the aftermath of the abuse scandals, yet since the pope's humble acknowledgement of the hurt and anguish suffered through decades of inaction and mishandling, there is a tangible feeling that a boil has been lanced."

Yes, we LGBT people have known you had a 'boil.' 'Lancing' it doesn't mean you've undone the harm.

Maybe that's the point. You can 'absolve' yourselves or apply metaphors from medieval medicine till you're blue in the face, but... I assure you, that's nothing new, and that's not what people he hurt and keeps hurting, tears or not, were asking for.

I almost believed the tears were real for once. But seeing this... Nah. Maybe not. What about *my* tears? He still thinks he has or had the right?

Did the pope write that piece himself or just dictate it over the phone?

Hey, so was I. guess who said I was 'objectively-disordered.'

Go kiss the ring. Maybe it'll improve your spelling.

Before all the hate mail stars, I want to say that I was pleased to see an article that actually had something nice to say about Benedict. Although non-Catholics won't understand the significance of a holy hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament, I sincerely wish I had been there to pray with them.
