2012 Doomsday Wrong

Doomsday believers, you might be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

hey narcissists(spelling?) of all religions, relax. The world won't end until long after you are gone when either we are met with a cataclysmic space anomily, or ruin our planet through irresponsible practices. The rapture never comes, its all a big fairy tail so you will feel important. It has been predicted thousands upon thousands of times and sadly we are still here. Relax, after all, you are going to heaven. I have nothing but nothing to look forward to

Whether or not 2012 is the doomsday year depends on the results of the elections. If it's GOP shellacking Part 2, then it's doomsday all right, regardless of what the ancient Mayans say.

Oh Suffering Succotash! I just went to the Hallmark shop and do you know what? EVERY SINGLE CALENDAR THERE ENDED ON 31 DECEMBER, 2010!

Whoa! So clearly, the world must be ending on New Year's Eve, right? Well, that's the interpretation 2012-ers are giving the Mayan Calendar---the world ends when the calendar ends...

Seems pretty stupid when you look at it like that, huh? No wonder the movie was a flop...

Seems pretty stupid to believe the "world" will end. Like, poof, gone. It's also very naive to believe that everything will be just as it has been for the last 5000 years. Things are changing more rapidly now than at any other point in human history. When you really try to comprehend it, it will blow your mind.

Maybe the ominous warnings about the coming end of the world in 2012 actually are all about the US elections!!!

I think that would be the end of America as we know it, not the world.

It was just the biggest, flattest rock the Mayan carver could find. It goes out to the edges and then it stops. There is some kind of metaphorical truth in it. Everything does change and sometimes it changes so much, it might as well be the end, but it's never really.

It sure is strange how religion looks foreword to the destruction of all humanity.

Religion is human self loathing on a massive scale.

Apocalypse is the selfish dream of religion and the nightmare of humanity. So for the sake of all humanity stop following religion.

Anyone who researches the history of apocalypse prediction, prophesy, obsession, fiction and fantasy would have to view the whole concept as suspect, to say the least. "Selfish"? Sure....I personally know several families that have attempted to integrate a firm belief in this unfortunate idea for 20 plus years. At first it sounded like only a morbid fundamentalist belief. I've come to see it more honestly. It's a childish excuse to avoid fears in life the "believer" is confronted with. But it's worse; even if the children don't entirely buy into the concept, they still suffer from the absence of planning or just enthusiasm for college, career, the future or life in general. I've seen this ridiculous fantasy contribute to financial failure, loss of home, etc. And this idea is as old as humankind; it's in our DNA. Oh, sure, it could be true. And it's dramatic to think our end will come in a spectacular moment of cosmic importance. Ironically, the end WILL come soon, sooner than we think. If it's in 2012, I may be lucky to even make it that far....Meanwhile, I have stuff to do....

A wake up call to all that are waiting for this infamous date. 2012 has already arrived for millions, dare I say billions, and will arrive for the rest of us, some before 12-21-2012, some after but no doubt about it, our personal 2012 will arrive. 0 ;-)

I had a dream last night. I was in Illinois with family and friends. But, what appeared to be refugee camps. There was a collective of people and we were all trying to figure out what to do about something. Then the first earthquake hit. A small one. Just enough to get our attention. An hour later, or so, a much larger, more powerful quake hit. This one sent us running in all directions. Large wooden structures suddenly started to sway. Then falter. I was running to escape the shadow of a massive set of what appeared to be railroad ties stacked end on end. They were falling right toward where I was running to. I told myself, "just make it to the water". I ran as fast as I could and jumped into the lake and dove to the bottom. As I plunged into the warm water, I could hear the railroad ties smashing the plane of the water. I looked up and all I saw was blackness. Then I woke up.

So there you have it folks. No end of the world.
