WILMINGTON, Del. — Republican Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell said she regrets airing the campaign ad in which she declared "I'm not a witch."

Speaking to ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview broadcast Thursday, O'Donnell agreed with the suggestion that the ad only brought fresh attention to the issue surrounding her past statements as a TV commentator.

"I haven't publicly stated this, and I don't know if I'll get in trouble for saying that, but our intention was to kill it, and that's not what happened," she said in the interview.

O'Donnell's comments about witchcraft were made over a decade ago during a taping of comedian Bill Maher's "Politically Incorrect" TV show.

"I dabbled into witchcraft. I never joined a coven," she said on the video, a clip of which hit the Internet just days after she stunned longtime congressman Mike Castle in the GOP primary in her third bid for Senate.

O'Donnell also defended comments made during a recent debate with Democratic rival Chris Coons in which she challenged him to show where the Constitution requires separation of church and state. The words calling for separation don't actually appear in the Constitution, she told ABC.

In a lighthearted exchange near the end of the interview, O'Donnell was asked what costume she would wear for Halloween. "I certainly am not going to be a witch," she said. She joked that she may dress up as Dorothy, an apparent reference to the heroine of "The Wizard of Oz" story.

"Kill the witch," she said laughing.

ok so coons couldn't/wouldn't name the 5 freedoms in the first amendment....she couldn't name the 14th or the 16th amendment in the same interview! and she's the one running on the basis that she is some kind of constitutional expert..

So she goes on national TV to bring up an ad that was supposed to squash her statement of dabbling in witchcraft? Is she mentally retarded? Where is the logic behind that!

FAIL!

Way to go Christine, keep it an issue as long as you possibly can! Whatever you do, dont let it fade away.

I'm sure after not being able to name a single democratic senator, she regrets the entire campaign right now.

I seriously hope no one considers this a news article. If I was so bone idle I sought a slice of life from O'Donnell of all people, I would have to revaluate a great deal of my life.

I think we could all be doing better things than giving our attention to an unintelligent, politically incapable candidate. We could be looking into how the other candidates are going to legislate on the issues we care about.

O'D has an inability to learn ... I don't know which mental disorder she suffers from but she certainly is completely unable to learn and, at the same time, seeks the lime light to let everyone see her ignorance.

I am starting to think you are right. She must have some sort of mental disorder or a slight form of retardation. If she didn't stand for something that I am so against, I would probably take pity on her.

She does not get it. Free exercise thereof. Free for whom? Just Evangelicals?

because without the seperation of Church and State that is what it will, and often has, become. When one exercises their religion freely, yet in a manner that in does not infringe on my rights to practice my beliefs, nor religious beliefs made into laws that will affect me then all of our rights afforded in the first Amendment are protected.

However when they use their religion as a basis for law, DADT, In God We Trust, Under God, gays not allowed to marry, cannot sell alcohol on Sundays only, the display of the ten commandments, the assumption that God is generic to all, anti-abortion tricks like forcintg to pay for a vaginal ultrasound and have it play prior to the surgery, promoting Intelligent Design as an accepted science. These examples, and many, many more infringe on my rights.

So without the seperation of Church and State I am not afforded the same rights as Christine O'Donnell. the freedome to exercise thereof.

So she dabbled into witchcraft but never joined a coven...well, I can relate. I joined the Baptist church but didn't let them dunk me right away. I guess that's kind of the same thing.

I almost feel sorry for her. She is so dim, how could she not hear the audible gasp followed by laughter from the law students. Not a high five moment , more like a watershed moment.

There is only wind blowing between her ears...Coons did the right thing by summarily ignoring her and making his very correct point about her lack of understanding of the constitution. Yet she is such a constitution expert. Just because you can say "constitution" 10 times in a statement does not make you a constitutional law expert. Woefully underwhelming...

I wonder if she even gave consideration to the fact she made these statements in front of constitutional law students. Of course I know the answer to this question, she seems so proud of being so out of her depth.

She never "dabbled in witchcraft" -- she just hung out with the sort of creepy guys who played at satanism to impress the ditzy girls.
