Global Warning Skepticism in Tea Party

Tea Party Climate Change

New York Times:

Skepticism and outright denial of global warming are among the articles of faith of the Tea Party movement, here in Indiana and across the country. For some, it is a matter of religious conviction; for others, it is driven by distrust of those they call the elites. And for others still, efforts to address climate change are seen as a conspiracy to impose world government and a sweeping redistribution of wealth.

Well that's pretty much in accordance with their other beliefs - ie. pure ideology with no factual basis.

Google with quotation marks these 12 reports on 11 recent results in mathematical science, read, and learn: --------------- "Global Warming: Future Temperatures Could Exceed Livable Limits, Researchers Find" and "Report: Climate change could render much of world uninhabitable" (2010) "Carbon Dioxide Controls Earth's Temperature" (2010) "Sun's Impact on Climate Change Overestimated?" (2010) "Is Antarctica Melting?" (2010) "Earth more sensitive to carbon dioxide than previously thought" (2009) "Global Temperatures Could Rise More Than Expected, New Study Shows" (2009) "Beyond Carbon Dioxide: Growing Importance Of Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) In Climate Warming" (2009) "Changes In The Sun Are Not Causing Global Warming, New Study Shows" (2009) "Climate Change Is Not Caused By Cosmic Rays, According To New Research" (2008) "Cosmic Rays Do Not Explain Global Warming, Study Finds" (2008) "Changes In Solar Brightness Too Weak To Explain Global Warming" (2006) --------------- I wonder why all we see from the deniers is scorn of the best mathematical models we have, of bringing in mathematics to understand physical systems - like climate. The deniers don't offer contrary mathematical science to replace the mathematical science they deny. They just deny the very application of mathematics itself - and I wonder why. --------- I challenge the deniers: Where is your RECENT mathematical science that contradicts these eleven studies I cited, SEVEN of which were published within the last twelve months, and contradicts other MOST RECENT results similar to these eleven? WHERE IS YOUR MATHEMATICS? Where is your mathematics that contradicts these MOST RECENT results?

My mathematics is the new powerhouses of the world. They won't stop until all the oil is gone. It's not scorn, it's common sense. .
Life is truely amazing and the world will never be uninhabitable. Regardless of that why can't you understand that the US is not the center of the world, there are more Indians (not the ones you butchered, Asians) and Chinese than there will ever be Americans..
According to the evidence we have hit the oil production peak, China are outbidding the US on oil (using the dollars you gave them buying their exports because you've outsourced your industry :-) ) and have no intention of not using it. They are building massive coal fired power stations as we speak.

So i cannot understand why you harp on about these well paid scientists who fly around the globe (that's right using up more carbon to prove their theory) taking measurements, saying this and that when i just stated the biggest fact that you all seem to ignore. Can you reply to that? Do you have mathematical model for that?.
You don't need one but here is the calculation 1+1=2 countries that will consume oil and coal till it's gone regardless. .
That my lovely angel is my mathematics.

Having a degree in mathematics, I appreciate not only mathematical proof and the fact that all physics theories are in essence mathematical models, but the fact that people cannot wish away what mathematics says. Of those eleven studies I cited, Google with quotation marks especially "Global Warming: Future Temperatures Could Exceed Livable Limits, Researchers Find" and "Report: Climate change could render much of world uninhabitable" (2010) (National Academy of Sciences published) This mathematics says that a 21 degree F average global temperature increase (hitting a global average last seen 50 million years ago) over the next few centuries from ANY set of causes makes at least half of Earth (including the tropics and subtropics) too hot for warm-blooded life to survive - it makes daytime summertime wet-bulb temperatures (particular combinations of heat and humidity) so high, death would occur within hours of initial exposure for warm-blooded life. This much increase means the end on Earth of almost all warm-blooded wildlife - and by food chain destruction the end of almost all wildlife - and the end of human civilization. ---------- All these eleven most recent results I cited taken together means it will be easier than previously thought for humanity to drive the average global temperature to that deadly temperature threshold over the next few centuries. It's not just about big hurricanes and rising sea levels anymore; it's now about the very survival of essentially all wildlife and human civilization just a few short centuries from now.

so the baggers think the world revolves around them and the media rewards that thinking - not a surprise. other parts of the world are taking responsibility for their actions.
in case noone else can figure this out, corp.baggers, funded by elites (koch bros.) are largely comprised of older, white, male and formerly(still) repugnants. what they want back is the favoritism shown them. as far as elitism goes: pot meet kettle.

I disagree with the basic premise of this article suggesting the tea party could be disasterous for climate change legislation. Any prospects of real, significant climate change legislation is already dead on arrival. The corperations own enough Democrates along with the Republican party that even if the Democrates GAINED a few seats in the Senate and House (which won't happen) no meaningful climate change legislation will be passed. And the tea party will have no effect on that sad fact. (Mind you, they DO have the chance to be disasters in other areas...but this field is a disaster all by itself). A watered down, negotiated away piece of climate change legislation which really does nothing but allows us to pay ourselves on the back pretending we addressed the issue is worse then no legislation at all. The Tea Party in their highly religious views on everything- seems utterly confused- Religion and Science are totally different- and cannot be interchanged.

Till these misinformed people realize this- the world will continue to burn, and wars in this century over natural resources like water- and basic human needs like food will consume us.

I hope the tea party preys real hard- perhaps the C02 will just go away- the arctic will stop melting, and global temperatures stop rising.

There definitely has to be a separation of church and state.

The religion of global warming has no place in government.

It's hard to fight someone who is driven more by faith than intelligence.

Gee, where have I heard that before?

Oh, that's right. It was the same thing that was said by Tea Party types about those ter.ror.ists who would strap bo.mbs on themselves and detonate them in a crowded shopping plaza.

The same thing was said bt TPers about the citizens of Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc.

Sounds like projection to me.

I don't care if you choose to ignore the evidence against it. The question I have is even when the Dems have said that cap n trade will do nothing to combat "global warming" how can you be for it?

Also how can you be for all the new regulations that will basically dictate how you live your life? Oh yeah the fact that Obama said your utility bills will double.

So, you are thinking perhaps that Industry will decide on its own that changing its policies makes sense? And, individuals will do the same?

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

The problem is that cap and trade won't stop it; we ignored the problem for too long, and we can't stop it. We may be able to slow the process and, to me, the mere possibility of doing so is worth the old college try. The fact is, if we don't do something, we've just decided on the fate of your descendents, and mine, and everyone elses. If you could, wouldn't you change that?

The less they know about the subject the more certain they are. In their twisted universe knowledge is the enemy because it seldom agrees with their politics.
