Lady Gaga's Meat Dress Not Such A Great Idea For Halloween, Butchers Say (VIDEO)

First Posted: 10/21/10 12:50 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:05 PM ET

Lady Gaga's Meat Dress will probably be the Halloween costume of the season, but is it such a good idea? Not really, according to several New Jersey butchers, if you needed a professional opinion. One told the Star-Ledger, "Beyond the sanitary aspects, there's the question of connective tissue. If you're going to sew something like this together, there's a very good possibility that its going to split through the grain and fall apart."

Another butcher remarked, "If it's fresh meat, you're going to get blood, juice, all over everything you touch....it's not very hygienic," and a third added, "There's no insulating value at all....if it's a cold Halloween, you're going to freeze." Then there's also the cost, which could be $250 or more.

I lost over 300 pounds so far, counting the 100 I gained back.
It was hard work.
Why would I want to put it back on in the form of a costume ?

Why should anyone be warned against this? I believe that you have to let an idiot learn the hard way in order for the lesson to get through to them. And if they happen to get sick, lose a limb in the process, then that's fine too.

You have to be insane to try this I think. I love eating meat but don't want raw meat dripping on my skin that is for sure.

Do we really need someone to tell us not to do this?...

Ok, this just crossed my mind even though it is slightly unrelated. Does PITA hate all animals that eat meat or just human animals?

Rule of thumb: If you're going to try to be clever and snarky, you have to at least get the acronym right. Unless you really mean to insult a type of bread...

Skip the gross meat and try a healthier (and hilarious) costume. Yogi Zombies, anyone? http://wellandgoodnyc.com/2010/10/22/skip-the-meat-dress-our-healthy-halloween-costume-ideas/

I would like to hope that Gaga's little "monsters" have retained enough of their own brains to not wear actual meat on Halloween.

Did this happen too late in the year for the Halloween Costume makers to have this one on the shelf this year? they could have simulated it quite well with plastic pieces.

What a slap in the face to everyone who can barely afford to put food on their table. Instead of wearing a dress made of meat, why don't you donate food to or money to a food bank or homeless shelter.

If you go trick-or-treating in a meat dress and you pass a pit bull can you sue the owner if you are mauled to death?

No, you are dead,

Whenever I see television shows featuring places that offer huge servings while holding contests to see who can cram 10 pounds of food into themselves in an hour, I can't help but think about all the people who go hungry in America and the world.

As with the meat dress, it's considered "entertainment" - but it comes with a decadent twist.
