Matt Besser Protests L.A. Marathon For 'This Show Will Get You High' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 10/21/10 02:53 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:05 PM ET

Upright Citizens Brigade co-founder Matt Besser has taken to the streets for his new Comedy Central sketch special "This Show Will Get You High" -- specifically, by protesting runners in the L.A. marathon for a bit where Besser and his cohorts stage a mock protest against the runners for participating in the marathon.

While this hilarious remote piece may ostensibly poke fun at the Westboro Baptist Church's picket lines protesting everything from Bill Maher to military funerals, it's not uncommon to see angry protesters any time large groups gather, holding up signs portraying Bible verses and messages that attendees will soon be in Hell. A special appearance by counter-protesters and the Mario Brothers only make this video more entertaining. Watch the video for a preview of "This Show Will Get You High," which will air on Comedy Central at the end of the month.

On the day when Mario and Luigi say you're nuts, you might want to take a good look in the mirror.

Jesus didn't walk, he had a donkey. That's like having a Ferrari in those days.

Hahahha, I like to see people confront ignorance, but not at the expense of being violent. The lady at the end of it, just looked like a total jack-face...

I lost it when a man dressed as Luigi tells them they are mentally unstable.

I wonder if the insane butch anarchist was part of the show or just an unwitting rebel without a clue.

The sad thing is that this actually happened during the Philadelphia Marathon a few years back. Anti-abortion people had bullhorns and giant 4' x 8' signs of bloody fetuses right along the course. Most of these protesters were morbidly obese and obviously from out of town. This took place at about mile 15. It really made me alot slower and added a few minutes to my finish time. I felt violated that these people attacked healthy marathoners with their loudspeakers telling us all what sinners we were when we paid all that cash to enter the race.

" I felt violated..."

That's the part that I don't get. When is it acceptable to "violate" other people as you exercise Free Speech? It'll take inhuman wisdom to discern the line and that job will fall to the Roberts' Court. I don't expect "wisdom" from the majority.

Matt Besser was doing sick offensive comedy long before Sasha Baron Cohen showed up.
