Mel Gibson's 'Hangover 2' Cameo CANCELED

UPDATE: Sources tell TMZ that Todd Phillips cast Mel in the movie a month ago and had the support of cast and crew. When the story leaked earlier this week, some of the cast and crew succumbed to pressure from friends and began to protest. The loudest voice was reportedly that of Zach Galifianakis.

PREVIOUSLY: Mel Gibson's comeback cameo in 'The Hangover 2' was confirmed Tuesday by a source close to production, but director Todd Phillips said Thursday that Mel will no longer be involved with the movie.

Phillips tells The Wrap:

"I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."

Mel was reportedly set to play a tattoo artist in the 'Hangover' sequel.

'The Beaver,' Mel's 2009 collaboration with Jodie Foster, has yet to get a release date.

Like Mel Gibson is the only Racist/Sexist in Hollywood. I only watch movies with racist, sexist anti-semites because I looked forward to seeing Mel Gibson in a movie cameo? So I guess everybody who like Mike Tyson in the first one only watches movies with convicted rapists in it huh? Get a clue.

I didn't even like the first one. Most over-rated movie I have ever seen in my entire life. I think I laughed once. FAR greater comedies out in recent years, such as 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall', 'I Love You, Man' and 'Get Him To The Greek'. Zach was great in the Hangover, but other than that it was as meh as a movie can get. I was at least expecting funny explanations for all the things they didn't know how they happened, like the tooth and whatnot. But even those weren't funny. Big let-down.

Actually, the director is Jewish, and wanted Gibson for the movie. One of the stars, Zach Galafinakis did not want Gibson in the movie. He's a non-Jewish Greek. But don't let me get in the way of your anti-semitism.

2 stories on the same ridiculous issue? The anti-semitic, homo-phobic, raging racist has no place in our theatres. He's made his views crystal clear, just as his anti-semitic father did before him. Read some history books about this family - there is no dispute to this. It's not invented, it's real, it's how they feel about Jews mostly, and every other minority who lives. Glad the producers came to some sense on this.

I don't know why there is a Hangover 2 but I would have liked to see Mel in it. All of you hating on Tyson please give it a rest. They were out to hang the champ: young, black and successful. Desiree Washington is a deceiver, she has a false rape accusation under her belt, offered to drop charges for $1 million...no DNA evidence?

Outside of the co-stars concerns, I have to think that Mel is not in the movie because he is not yet funny. Tyson is funny. All he has to do is show up, and he's funny. It's not about the morality of whether or not he SHOULD be funny, it's about how when most people see him, we laugh.
With Mel Gibson, we aren't there yet. And maybe will never be. But that moment where something kicks off in the psyche when we see someone, that gut reaction; just is what it is. We see Tyson, we laugh. We see Gibson, we groan.

Remember when the Republicans - particularly the religious right - were paying tribute to Gibson (after his Passion of the Christ) as if he was the Second Coming!

This is just another example of the Right placing the superficial over substance. The only thing Gibson did was to make a movie that played into the religious script of the right wing, and stereotyped Jews ... and that was all they needed. They neither knew nor cared anything about the integrity or substance of his character ... but that's typical of them.

They care only about Fox's ratings, but nothing about the lies and twisted truths and propaganda ...

They care only about Palin's attractive face, wit and ability to "energize" the base, but nothing about her utter cluelessness ...

Bobby Jindal was going to be their next Barack Obama, simply because he happens to be a brown man with an interesting story ... and then we heard him speak ...

And their fascination with Mel Gibson was no different!!!! All fluff ... no substance.

As you mention yourself, Tyson was convicted. He received his punishment by going to prison and serving his sentence. Gibson's hateful, drunken rants, may not be criminal, but they're certainly misogynistic, anti-semitic and racist. So, instead of serving a prison sentence as punishment, he loses film roles as punishment.

Mel Gibson DID commit a crime: He hit his girlfriend who was holding thier infant and then took out a gun and threatend to kill her. He then continued to threatened her by telephone saying that he wanted to hit her with a baseball bat and bury her in the gardern. THAT IS A CRIME.

See this is interesting, whenever i see an account with 0 fans, like Thomas23 has, and they start commenting like they know what they are doing i think "planted comment", either by someone who's getting paid or has some other account they don't want this tied to. So I clicked on the profile name, found out there was only one post, this being that one, and that the account was created back in August of 2008, created over two years ago with no posts up until now, so i goggled what transpired in August 2008 and Mel and coincidentally it was when our boy Mel drove his Maserati into that cliff wall in Malibu. I'm thinking this is Mel's PR team, or even possibly the Beaver himself? Man I like a good "Conspiracy Theory" , don't you?
