'South Park' Makes 'Inception' Sound Like The Dumbest Movie Ever (VIDEO)

The Huffington Post

Much like their recent episode skewering "Jersey Shore," Matt Stone and Trey Parker had to wait all summer to parody the year's most talked about film "Inception."

On last night's "South Park," Stan and Mr. Mackey are accused of being hoarders and are forced to undergo regression dream therapy. However, Mackey's dream becomes so traumatic that it pulls Stan -- and eventually almost everyone in South Park -- into his dream world, setting the stage for the funniest take on "Inception" we've seen all year.

As soon as Leonardo DiCaprio's character from the movie is brought in to save the others from Mackey's dream, Stan's mom begins asking all the questions you probably thought of while watching "Inception." The explanation becomes so confusing that she can hardly take it:

"Just because an idea is overly convoluted and complex doesn't make it cool! Going to multiple dream levels sounds like a really stupid idea."

Whether you didn't get "Inception" or saw it five times in the theater, you'll definitely get a kick out of this hilarious explanation.

I like South Park sometimes, but man can trey parker and matt stone be complete nihilists. They just seem to reduce and portray EVERYTHING to/as being absurd. It gets a little old when I start to wonder "do these guys enjoy anything in life other than making fun of everything?"

Inception wasn't nearly as complicated as anyone made it out to be-it was a fairly simple genre thriller with yeah, some convoluted plot devices, but was fairly straight-forward in its execution.

The episode itself was quite funny, and I really don't give a damn whether Parker and Stone enjoyed the film or not-they mercilessly mock nearly everything for the pure comedy of it.

Inception is my kind of movie, I loved it. I see here a lot of people didn't like it, and I guess it's a matter of taste. I've always been interested in topics related to the subconscious, one of my favorite books as a teen was Freud's interpretation of dreams, and movies like "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", among other movies dealing with projections and the way the mind may represent stimuli through images, those things are fascinating to some people, and Inception is a movie that deals with that subject. If you enjoy those topics Inception is going to be the movie of the year for you, it is an awesome movie, but it's not for everyone. On the other hand I went to see the social network (the Facebook movie), the movie that everyone says should be movie of the year, the only thing that was extraordinary about it was the music, Trent Reznor's music gave the movie a different sense.

Inception was OK.
But hardly one of the best movies of the year, let alone all time.

Is anyone really saying that it was?
03:28 PM on 10/22/2010
I liked the idea of the multiple dream levels. I have had dreams within dreams. No more than two levels tho. My brain is simple that way.

But do any search on 'lucid dreaming' and you'll see how cool it is. I have practiced lucid dreaming and it's awesome.

Inception was a good move, but a wee bit more complicated than it had to be...

Having everything oversimplified all the time isn't cool either. Sometimes having to think a little is good for you, South Park republican dopes. Team America was quite stupid, and required no thought. It's too bad the way these guys started out OK, and then they became mindless teabag republicans. The show used to be funny. Now everything is political with them, and they reveal their mindless teabag mentality.
04:49 PM on 10/22/2010
there was nothing "teabagger" about it. they just skewered a film that you spent the last few months conditioning yourself to believe made you smarter than others for liking it.

I don't think that they're teabaggers. If you asked them they would probably say they were apolitical with a tendency towards libertarian. They've summed it up before by saying that while they hate Republicans, they really hate Democrats. Mostly, they're just professional trolls looking to make fun of the thing that is most likely to piss off the kinds of people they don't like, which usually amounts to opinionated people who think they're better than everyone else... which is a group they kinda fit into.

So yeah, they're politics are full of contradictions and is just not that easy to sum up.

I agree. teabaggers nay, too smart. I can't put my finger on their politics really but one window into their irreverent minds might be through Eric Cartmen admittedly their favorite character.

I liked Inception, and still thought this was funny. Just because Trey and Matt mock something doesn't mean they actually disliked it. They mock everybody and everything all the time.

That's because it WAS the dumbest movie ever!

Well maybe not ever, but certainly up there.

The South Park people were just stating what most of us already knew.

The Emperor has no clothes.

You need to see more movies.

Watched Inception after Shutter Island. Two movies back to back with DiCaprio's dead wife "visiting" him throughout the movie was too much. I was begging for the movie to end. This movie was the Matrix on sedatives, a mixture of one part cool idea and 5 parts suck.
04:51 PM on 10/22/2010
right there with you. it was like watching shutter island all over again.

I liked Inception. And I think this is hysterical!

why are so many people on here defending inception like they are defending their mother's honor?
05:56 AM on 10/22/2010
The movie Inception was incepted, this week’s South Park was not.

I love South Park, but Trey and Matt have said some pretty ignorant things over the years. Not always sure that it hasn't been intentional, but it's pretty clear they are either ignoring or did not grasp the point of Inception. You can dislike it, but you should understand something before deciding you do not like it.

Maybe they understood it and still thought it was dumb.

Ever thought of that?

I know I did.

The parody does not demonstrate understanding of the film. Doesn't mean they did not understand it. Hell, doesn't ultimately mean they did not like it.

However, my original point is they are not terribly bright or well-informed.

(1) I am not sure they did not like it.

(2) Their parody ignores or missed the point of the film regardless of whether they like it or not. .
