Linda McMahon Attacked For WWE Steroid Abuse In New Ad

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is seeking to put a chokehold on Connecticut's Linda McMahon with a new ad targeted directly at the WWE's grim past of steroid abuse.

Though the ad doesn't mention the WWE directly, the second in a week that has shied from using the company's name, it highlights a 1989 memo written by now-Republican Senate candidate Linda McMahon informing a ringside doctor who had been providing steroids to wrestlers that an investigation was forthcoming.

"That's Linda McMahon. A bad CEO. A worse Senator," the ad concludes.

The employee, Dr. George T. Zahorian III, was eventually sentenced to three years in prison for providing anabolic steroids to McMahon's employees. The company's issues with steroids, drug abuse, and the premature death of their performers would continue for years, however.

The spot comes just days after Connecticut Democrats began lobbying for a federal elections investigation into a supposed connection between McMahon and a recent political initiative launched by the WWE called "Stand up for WWE."

HuffPost Pollster's latest analysis of the contest shows Democrat Richard Blumenthal expanding his lead over McMahon. He holds a 10 point advantage in the latest poll.

I think it is effective and truthful. She allowed steroid use at the very least...more likely she encouraged it.

This is what happens when crappy people run for office....you find things in their past that wouldn't qualify them to be exterminators....however, why would anyone want to run for office in this day and age when anything and everything one has done in one's life comes under the microscope...
I am not defending anyone's behavior, but where are all the honest, ethical and moral people?
Are there any out there?

I'm a life long D and frankly I can't tell who is sleazier in this race. While McMahon wouldn't be my first choice (or 532nd choice for that matter), I don't know if I could vote for someone who repeatedly lied about serving in Vietnam. My brother served 3 tours in that war. It would be one thing if he'd stumbled over his words once and the wrong impression was left but that's not what happened here.

I remember once reading an article that suggested we change the voting procedure to allow everyone both a "Yes" and a "No" vote. If both candidates had more "No" votes than "Yes" votes the election results would be scrapped and 2 new candidates would be chosen. Sounds like it would be handy in this case....

I was just discussing the very same issue with a friend this evening...my congressman, Mark Kirk, is running for the US Senate from Illinois...he too has lied and embellished about his military career...it is totally unacceptable to lie about one's military career, especially when so many of our service men and women have lost their lives or come home disabled/maimed...if we lied on our resumes we wouldn't even get a second look...Mark Kirk lied and people died...no thanks Mark...you're a bad guy...and bad guys finish last.

Just ask yourself which is the most egregious? Looks like both prevaricated but McMahon's decisions have led to the deaths of her employees. I personally think that lying is nasty but lying and dying are worse.

as a wrestling fan, i have to say this much. i'm surprised it took this long for the 'roids to make into commercials. I wouldn't be surprised soon if they start parading dead wrestlers on the next commercial, if not maybe even potential blatant mis-classification of the wrestlers as independent contractors instead of regular workers, in future commercials.

My young daughter's BFF recently suffered several injuries from her boyfriend, including two very black eyes! She say's he's an avid fan of the WWE, which didn't shock me as much as seeing her injuries did. What began as a Greek sport for men to roughly fondle each, has become, with McMahon's help, an industry that uses race, aggression, sex, and hate as it's mantra to create the worst kind of misogynist. How horrible that she got even one vote!

Linda McMahon never met a steroid user she didn`t like or beg to employ. Like all rich people the only concern was the return on investment. What`s a few dead wresters, just part and parcel of making a few more bucks.
