The 15 Greatest 'South Park' Movie Parodies (VIDEOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 10/22/10 09:00 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:05 PM ET

"South Park" has made fun of nearly every aspect of pop culture. Not only does it often make more sense than the subject it parodies, but is also typically much, much funnier. Just this week the show ripped apart the most confusing movie of the summer, "Inception."

Its elaborate movie spoofs are sometimes just silly, and sometimes end up as headlines if they happen to push the wrong buttons. (Looking at you, Tom Cruise.) We've compiled the best movie parodies from the past fourteen seasons of the show--from "High School Musical" to "Avatar." Watch the 15 best movie parodies on "South Park," and vote for your favorite!

"Cloverfield" got the "South Park" treatment in the season 12 episode "Pandemic" where the town was infested with Peruvian flute bands.

"Trapper Keeper" also has potential references to Akira and Space Odyssey 2001.

I have to say "You Got Served" and "Trapped in the Closet" are my two favorites. I've been watching since day one and even though Matt and Trey treat women disparagingly (did they have to do that to Snookie, Hillary or Oprah, cringeworthy), they are hysterical. I'll still be watching South Park when I'm 80.

"Cartman's Mom is a Dirty Sl%t" randomly incorporated some Jurassic Park elements which were pretty funny.

I'll bet some were staged for the photo.

My commute is an hour round-trip. Aren't we 'breaking the dam' a little bit every day, each one of us?

(Sorry, I'm a SP geek.)

I think they missed the all-time greatest when Cartman (Mr. Cartmenez) was Jaime Escalante of Stand and Deliver, and he taught the class how to cheat like white kids. "How do I reach dees keeds?!!"

I remember it was the first true public acknowledgment of Bill Bilacheat's scandal with the cameras aimed at opposing playbooks. South Park did a better job of calling him out then ESPN or the NFL did with their measly $250k fine.

For your pleasure:

Huge error in #14: Richard Dawkins does not create Darth Chef, it's the leader of the Super Adventure Club who does that.

classic Cartman as Dawg. One of the best, permanent on the dvr.

Series co-creator Matt Stone once commented, "I hate conservatives, but I really (expletive) hate liberals." And this bias is routinely reflected in the show. The creators' libertarian agenda has caused them to portray liberals as destructive, even murderous, while at the same time defending the humanity of people like Charles Manson or reducing vile serial killers like Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, and Ted Bundy to comical boneheads.

I can't totally forgive them for "Team America", but these guys tend to hold their political cards close to the vest, whatever their public statements. I'd be tempted to label them nihilists, but for the moment I'll hold fire. As usual, some of these SP clips work far better than others on a purely-for-laughs basis, but a few of them simply *work*, politics aside.

One of my favorites was the Indiana Jones/Crystal Skull slam on Lukas/Spielberg.

Given how self-referential the show is, I doubt it will have a long shelf life. Even some of these spoofs (Tom Cruise, Chef) don't have the zing from when they were released. But who cares? SP remains one of the best satires on television, far outpacing lame dinosaurs like SNL, Leno, and the like.

I don't agree about the short shelf lives. I still go back and watch some of the early episodes that i've seen many, many times. The shows will certainly loose a little zing of course but I think there is so much that is also universal in them that they'll hold up. I don't watch many Hollywood movies anymore and when I do its almost always on DVD so I often aren't familiar with the specific thing they are mocking but the shows are still funny.
