ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A Tampa Bay woman whose uncontrollable hiccups brought her worldwide attention is charged in the killing of a 22-year-old man during a robbery.

Jennifer Mee, 19, of St. Petersburg and two others are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Shannon Griffin on Saturday.

Sgt. T. A. Skinner of the St. Petersburg Police Department says Mee lured Griffin to a home where the others robbed him at gunpoint. Police say Griffin was shot several times.

Skinner says Mee and the others admitted their involvement.

Mee was being held without bond early Monday. Pinellas County jail records did not show whether she has an attorney. Telephone numbers listed for Mee's mother have been disconnected.

Mee's hiccups - up to 50 times a minute for months - gained notoriety in 2007.

Watch one of Mee's 2007 appearances on the TODAY Show.

Its amazing how certain people from a certain background can do something terrible and its made into a joke.I'm hearing how the media is already making excuses for this girl when in any other case she would be called an animal. She gets "experts" to come on the air and explain to us how this could happen. This girl set some on up to be robbed and they were killed and its all a big joke?

This story is overblown, there's a hiccup in every murder case.

First your hiccuping 50 times a minute the next minute all u know is that you have just helped kill a man. I've seen a thousand times.

This does lead us to wonder whether everyone who ends up with incurable hiccups and ends up becoming a kind of media star become a murderer or the more plausible solution that it really doesn’t take a bad case of hiccups or media fame to commit murder just the base inclination to get what you want at any price- even that of another person’s life.

I guess she got bored once the hiccups cleared up. Sad.

"Sgt. T. A. Skinner of the St. Petersburg Police..."

In a bit of ironic justice, she was arrested by a hick-cop.
