Marijuana Legalization Supported By 46% Of Colorado Voters: 9News/Denver Post Poll

46% of likely Colorado biters support the legalization of marijuana, according to a 9 News/Denver Post poll released on Monday.

The poll, which was conducted by Survey USA, asked 800 Coloradans: "The state already allows medical use of marijuana. What are your views on legalization?"

46% responded that they supported legalization, while 43% opposed it. The idea of legalizing marijuana was far more popular among Democrats, 61% of whom would like to see the plant legalized, than Republicans, who oppose such a measure 62%-30%.

In 2009, Democratic strategists researching ways to boost voter turnout in the 2012 election found that key Democratic voters would be more likely to vote if there were a legalization initiative on the ballot.

Medical marijuana advocates are also planning a legalization initiative for 2012.

The results of the Survey USA poll, which was conducted October 19-21, roughly square with a Rasmussen poll taken in May, which determined that 49% in Colorado favored "legalizing and taxing" marijuana.

A legalization initiative in 2006 was defeated 61-38.

It's funny that democrats support legalization more than republicans but republicans are the ones always advocating smaller government... interesting...

Biters is correct. Meaning Democrats who will take the bait. Sad when people need drugs to cope with life. Kool-aid for the Republicans, marijuana for the Democrats.

Colorado's Legalize2012.com campaign is off and running with a money bomb on election day. Please contribute to the cause. They are only asking for $4.20 per person. Contribute for everyone's sake.

This group is promoting retail sales tax only, which is a relief for all of us who are sick of being treated like second class citizens who are somehow responsible to repair the economy after the banks and wall street crushed it. The retail sales tax alone is making million statewide in the medical program.. And--No limits (plant or possession) on the safest therapeutic substance known to man. Any limits mean law enforcement is in your house counting. If we are legalizing it, we should not have additional law enforcement. 21 and over. Legalize2012.com

Biters? What the heck is that? I support legalization strictly as a way to insure tax revenues from marijuana for Colorado. Plus, if it's legal. it isn't quite so attractive to people!

I'd support legalization, but I don't like the California model that restricts cultivation to 25 square feet. I believe it should be based on the number of mature plants. There would need to be possession exceptions for deliveries to retailers, as well, but I think it could work. The key would be to tax it at a rate high enough to create good cash inflows to the state, but low enough that it would not incent people to return to the black market.

What's a Colorado Biter?? Am I supposed to bite someone?!? I support the legalization of marijuana, but I don't think we should have to bite anyone to get it. That's just wrong...

Reefer Madness is still alive and well in Colorado. And Kenny The Buckster is advocating throwing out the first amendment because it is not his view. Crazy? Roll another and pass it Buck, he is the one sounding whacked out.

Gee, 46%. That is the same percentage of Colorado Democrats who supported Andrew Romanoff against "appointed" Senator Michael Bennet. Does anyone really think Michael Bennet will support legalization?? After all Bennet ran hundreds of internet ads proclaiming himself your PUBLIC OPTION HERO, but when thousands of Colorado Democrats Signed and Delivered a huge Petition asking him to Fight For It, BENNET IGNORED THEM and after whining about the back room deals, went and VOTED FOR THE Health Care BILL Without the Public Option. We Needed a Senator With Spine But Obama, helped by DNC, DSCC, and Organizing For America STOLE THE SENATE PRIMARY FOR BENNET. Loss of a Fair and Honest Primary Means the General Election is not Fair. OUR RIGHT to a fair and honest primary is too precious to lose.

The way to tell Corrupt State Democratic Party officials that you won't tolerate it is to

WRITE-IN "ROMANOFF" or just leave the space for Senator "BLANK"

"Obama can veto any bill that Ken Buck passes" and the GOP will not have the votes in either house or senate to override. The "right to abortion is settled law".

OUR RIGHT to a fair and honest primary is too precious to lose
"over anyone's fear" of Republicans.

To those that say our Colorado Democratic Primary was not stolen,
we offer the following evidence:

Gov. Ritter appointed Bennet even though none of the recommendation emails that Ritter asked for mentioned Bennet even once. The Denver Post said that the Obama White House pressured Ritter to appoint Bennet.

Prior to our primary vote:
Obama endorsed Bennet prior to our Caucus, County Assemblies or Primary vote.
Obama directly raised Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars for Bennet in Denver.
Obama Personally Campaigned for Bennet in Colorado and elsewhere.
Obama caused 460,000 Robo-Calls to be placed to Corado Dems with his endorsement.
Obama Joined a 20,000+ telephone conference call to Colorado Dems with his endorsement.
Obama caused thousands of Telemarketing Calls to be made to Colorado Dems From Washington DC, just prior to the Primary on Aug. 10.

Our corrupt State Democratic Party leaders allowed OFA to officially organize for Bennet and do it out of the State Democratic Party offices.

The DNC and DSCC gave all their Colorado Senate race money to Bennet, thus financially handicapping Romanoff and removing him from prime individual donor lists and preferential media treatment,
A huge Breach Of Trust With Rank & File Colorado Dems.

To get our Honest Primary back send a strong message to our Corrupt State and National Party Officials by

WRITING-IN "Romanoff"
or
Just Leaving the Space next to Bennet's Name "BLANK"

We need an Honest Primary in 2012

How about sending our state and national party officials a letter instead of abusing your voting privilege?

This Colorado voter supports our President who was voted into office by the majority of Americans. What he wants works for me.

Oh yes, lets do that!! And Guarentee Buck the seat! Any vote against Bennet, however you do it, will be a vote for Buck and do we really want him to represent Colorado? I don't!

Jesus said, Whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them. (Matthew 7:12).

I know I would not want my child sent to jail with the sexual predators, or my aging parents to have their house confiscated and sold by the police, over a little marijuana.

We can change the world when we vote.
