National Enquirer Founder's Biography Written By His Son: 'Classic American Immigrant Success Story'

Pope ultimately sank $1 million and 14 years into the book, amassing 50,000 pages of notes and thousands of photographs.

The book is finally here, titled "The Deeds of My Fathers: How My Grandfather and Father Built New York and Created the Tabloid World of Today" (Philip Turner/Rowman & Littlefield). It turns out to be more than a vanity project -- a well-written, well-researched, sometimes gripping account of a classic American immigrant success story.
