Susan G. Komen Under Fire: Nation's Largest Breast Cancer Charity Defends Their Record

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month draws to a close, the debate rages on about the impact of all the "awareness" campaigns.

Some critics feel decades of pink ribbons have done little to actually fight the deadly disease.

Most recently, the nation's largest breast cancer charity, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, has come under fire for some of its corporate partnerships -- including a controversial campaign with fast food company KFC.

NPR's Jacki Lyden interviewed Barbara Brenner of nonprofit Breast Cancer Action. Brenner criticized Susan G. Komen and their corporate sponsors for "raising awareness," but taking little action.
