Padma Workout

popeater.com:

Although Padma Lakshmi gave birth to her first child in February, you'd never know it by looking at her slim physique. The former model isn't coy about the rigorous workouts she endures to keep her figure, though, adding she's not only combating baby weight but all those extra calories she consumes on the 'Top Chef' set.

At The ELLEments of Personal Style book launch party in NYC, she told PopEater: "I woke up at 6AM, I nursed. Then I ran up and down 70 flights of stairs. Then I had breakfast, then went to the gym and lifted weights for an hour. Then I walked home."

Hitting the stairmaster & then lifting weights isn't an extreme workout regimen.

It's only extreme when it becomes your job! Are they hard workouts, I'm sure they are but exteme means pushing yourself to the line...all the time...that is Hardcore...that is extreme!!

That's one hell of a scar on her arm. You'd think she'd have a plastic surgeon fix that.

you should read up on, there is no way to fix a scar that big or that deep, it was hidden for years when she was a model then people started booking her for the edgy quality it brought... anyways it became her trademark.

No. She feels it is important. And the accident that caused it, she describes as one of the most beautiful moments in her life (even though she needed surgery, broke her hip and other bones).

I have to assume everyone who works at HP is a couch potato. What is described here is hardly an "extreme" workout.

How is this extreme? I do cardio 6 to 7 days a week 45 minutes minimum either running at 5 miles per hour or more, and then I immediately lift for at least 30 minutes different body part each day. I don't consider myself extreme, I don't see how her routine is extreme.

Biggest Loser routines are insane.... Padma ain't got nothing on their workout.

I lift weights for an hour 5 or 6 days a week, and then do cardio for half an hour for about 3-4 days a week. Now I don't think our workouts are nearly as extreme as others ---- but when you take our workouts and compare them to the (non)workout the rest of our nation performs, we are PRETTY hardcore.

Trudat my friend.

But I still wonder, how is it that I workout so much so hard, watch every protein, fiber, fat and carb (both complex and simple) that enters my body, and don't look as lean as Padma does :).

I bet you what ever you want she's working harder than she's letting us on.

I'm 43, and two kids, both nursed while I worked out and held a full time job that required traveling 15 weeks out of every year. It's been 5 years since I stopped nursing, but I never stopped working out, and always have since the age of 14. Why do you ask?

Running stairs is an excellent way to build endurance and lose weight. In high school part of track practice was running stairs. That and nursing will help you lose the baby weight. And I agree with VeggieLove..this is not that extreme. It's good cardio and lifting.

Hmm...based on what you wrote I think I might start adding stairs to my workout regime. Thanks!!

Extreme? Training for the Ironman is extreme.
