7 Awesome Ferris Wheels Worth Visiting (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 10/28/10 04:30 PM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:10 PM ET

Though riding a Ferris wheel may be a problem for those who are scared of heights, there is no doubt that the landscapes that are visible from those little boxes high in the sky are totally worth it.

In fact, there is often no better way to see a new place than from above. Take the London Eye: it offers sweeping views of a city that might take days to see on the ground.

Here at the Huffington Post, we put together a list of 7 Ferris wheels with amazing views. If we forgot one, let us know (note: we did not include temporary wheels or ones that are currently under construction).

What about the "Riesenrad" in Vienna? It definitely has stunning views - plus you can relive scenes from "The Third Man."

None of them are like the old school ferris wheels that use to zip, really move. These move so slow it's sad.

You missed Parc d'Atraccions (Montjuic) - Barcelona. The other parc on Tibidabo isn't bad either, but the Ferris Wheel on Montjuiic was the highest in europe for a long time (long before the eye). It overlooks the city and the mediterranean and the seats are teacup style, and spin around the center post - in case the height doesn't make you queasy by itself.

Me too. Especially when your wise guy seat mate starts rocking it.

Yeah I can take almost any kind of fairground/amusement park ride; roller coasters, demon drops, those centrifuge things, but Ferris wheels are the one thing I can't go on.
