The Daily Beast:

Along with chiseled arms, kitten heels have become a trademark of Obama's White House style. Because of her statuesque frame, they've brought her down to size (or at least closer to her husband's size) and are an important puzzle piece in her carefully curated public image. Her heels are always low to the ground (and often shiny), but set a tone for how she presents herself to the world--and distinguish her from other first ladies, both American and international.

That picture above? BEST HAIR.

She didn't revive kitten heels, people have been wearing the I'm the workplace for years. And she doesn't have chiseled arms. Large does not automatically mean muscular.

Not feeling it, eh? That's pretty much how I felt watching Laura Bush with her glazed over eyes, grandma outfits, and slathered on red lipstick, and listening to her slurred fake southern accent while she did damn near nothing productive for 8 long long years.

Laura Bush was Nancy Reagan with flesh on her bones.

That's all I wear. As a shoe lover, I had a real hard time with the Herman Munster shoe trend. I'm so happy to see feminine footwear coming back big time this fall. Maybe that's thanks to Michelle!

Kitten heels on a big & tall woman never works...especially if the woman has an off shape, a big rear end. Sorry, it doesn't look right...the top part overpowers the look of the bottom. Look at full shots of Mrs. Obama in these heels and tell me you don't see exactly what I am saying.

That might be true IF her feet were a size 5. I doubt they are. Michelle Obama looks very well balanced.

I'm so thankful, all those flabby arms before Michelle, it was getting tiresome.

Really, she brought back toned arms and heels that have been around and worn forever?

Come one now. Wouldn't it be great if she got credit for the stuff she actually does?

I find it sad that women cannot wear the types of shoes they want to wear because of their husband's fragile egos! Both President's -- ours, and France's -- do not want to be upstaged by their tall wives.

President Obama is a tall man, probably taller than his wife when both are in their bare feet. No shortie, like the French prez.

Ms.Obama is a woman whose job keeps her on her feet a lot. Kitten heels are a sensible alternative to spike heels and not as casual as wedges.

Why would you assume that? Some women prefer their men to be taller and will adjust accordingly. Particularly those of us who are tall :-p Also not everyone is comfortable in sky high heels, it's not always about the egos, his or hers.

Kitten heels over high heels for me everytime.

I guess we should all go out and buy kitten heels. People wear what they like and she likes kitten heels for whatever reason. Personally I like my high heels. Wearing one type of shoes does not make one more stable than someone who changes her hairstyle quite often. To you it might mean stability to others it might mean boring.

More power to you. I had to wear heels to a wedding a couple weeks ago and my legs are still in shock! I'm in California now where I wear flip flops to work. I don't even OWN a pair of stockings right now. And I am lovin' it. :-)

clarendon67, your comment is quite boring also! You're making an issue about someone's opinion? You need help

Personally, I love kitten heels. They look elegant and sexy- but you don't have to worry about twisting your ankle in a mile-high heel or having aching arches at the end of the day. Yes kitten heels, and yea FLOTUS for 'bringing them back'!

"Kitten heels" just sounds so stupid though. :-)

Very positive article. Keep up the impressive work Michelle Obama.

Kitten heels were revived by Kate Spade in 2003. Before hen they were sold at classic stores catering to preppy classicists.

They have been on the shelf and on everyone's feet since.

"Mad Men" and it's early 60's influence has been the heel on the shelves even in the face of the tacky platform from stiletto. The sleeveless sheath dress with kitten heels has been the staple of work and holiday dressing for over 7 years. My closet is filled with over 50 variations and has been long before I ever heard of Obama.

They are a classic and have never NOT been available or worn by he country club set, as are all classics such as pearl chokers, twin-sets, slim ankle pants, the sheath dress, the coiffed bob and kitten heels.

Actually all first made famous by Mrs. Kennedy and forever sold at Barneys, Talbots, and Lord & Taylor.
This faux article is just silly.

They were always high fashion...and your comment is base.
