LAKE CITY, Fla. -- A Lake City mother has been arrested after she allegedly attacked a school principal after her child was suspended.
Tyra Hays was charged with battery on a school official and disrupting a school function. She was arrested Thursday.
Police say that on Oct. 20 the 33-year-old woman went to Challenge Learning Center to pick up her child, who had been suspended. Challenge is an alternative school for children with behavioral, academic or learning problems.
Police say that Hays argued with Principal Deborah Hill, left and then came back 10 minutes later. They say Hill told Hays to leave but Hays struck her. The fight was broken up by school employees.
It could not be determined Saturday if Hays has an attorney.
